PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

The ideal candidate will complete annual scheduled railroad bridge inspections and provide comments based on observed field conditions.  You will also complete periodic railroad, including emergency bridge inspections.

 

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Provide training, qualification, and oversight for field maintenance employees Audits bridge maintenance/renewal work for compliance with CPKC Structures Red Book Make recommendations to territory Manager Bridge Maintenance in regards to the inspection and maintenance of bridges Facilitates action plans based on detailed inspection results with the Railroad Bridge Engineer Complete inspections of moveable bridges, overhead highway structures, culverts, retaining walls, and turntables Directing assignment, use, and operation of Bridge Inspection Vehicle Required to request and acquire all necessary track authorities to conduct on-track bridge inspections.

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Qualification as a bridge inspector or ability to become qualified as a Bridge Inspector Ability to inspect bridges at heights and wear fall protection Proficient computer skills and experience with spreadsheets and word processing required Minimum of three (3) years of experience in railroad bridge inspection, maintenance or construction (preferred) Current GCOR qualified (preferred) Valid CDL/Commercial License (preferred) Bachelors’ degree in Civil Engineering or Mechanical Engineering (preferred) Professional Engineer designation PE/PEng (preferred)

Medical Requirements:
CPKC is committed to the safety and health of its employees and the general public.  This position is a safety sensitive position; all new hires will be required to complete a pre-employment medical that includes a physical, vision, hearing, alcohol, and drug audit assessments. Qualification drug test(s) are also required.

Management Conductor Program:

Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
