About the role:
We are currently seeking a Continuous Miner Supervisor to join our Shoal Creek, AL team. This role is responsible for effectively supervising and directing a team of hourly employees performing a variety of activities associated with continuous miner production. This role is also responsible for maximizing the overall efficiency and production of continuous miner section.
Duties will include:
• Supervise crew to ensure production goals are being met, this includes setup of employees, safe work practices, and regulatory compliance
• Conduct crew safety and informational sharing meetings, to ensure safe practices. Conduct and review observations and risk assessments with team members.
• Act in accordance with and adhere to Peabody safety management system.
• Complete daily time records and maintain daily production records
• Work closely with the CM Coordinator and Mine Foreman to ensure supplies and materials are adequate on working sections.
• Supervise brattice work, setting posts and roof supports, clean up duties, hanging ventilation curtains, and other associated tasks.
• Coordinate and conduct training with new and existing employees.
• Work closely with the CM Coordinator and maintenance department in coordinating scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on the equipment. Communicate results.
• Conduct proper examinations as required by state and federal law and Peabody policy.
• Identify potential improvements to the mining process.
• Visibly support and champion Peabody’s mission and values.
• Foster and maintain respectful relationships with all levels of personnel.
• Comply with and enforce company policies.

This position is a full-time, salaried role working from our Shoal Creek mine in Oakman, AL.
About you:
• Must possess a high school diploma or GED and 5 years of equivalent CM experience.
• 3 – 5 years of supervisor experience and/or crew lead experience. Union supervisory experience is a plus.
• Must possess an Alabama Mine Foreman Certification
• Must have a high level of understanding MSHA Regulations
• Must have good verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to utilize Microsoft Office programs
• Must be willing to work on any assigned shift and on scheduled weekends.
• Experience in mine mechanical and maintenance preferred.
• Experience in Success Factors, SAP and Kronos is a plus.
Physical requirements:
Must have the ability to stand for prolonged periods of time on uneven, rocky surfaces. Must have the ability to be seated for up to 4 hours to operate equipment or vehicles. Must have the ability to walk for up to 4 hours at a time. Will be required to walk through different sections of the mine with varying degrees of clearance and headroom. Walking ability will be judged according to SCSR emergency evacuation plan required and approved by MSHA. Must have the ability to wear required protective footwear, hearing and eye protection, and other personal protective equipment as required by Company and MSHA. Must have the ability to bend or stoop for a full work period as a result of mine height. Must have the ability to climb up and down stairs/steps and climb on and off equipment and ladders. Must have the ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist motions (push, pull, twist, handle), and have rapid reflex movements of the arms and legs as well as good hand to eye coordination. Must have the ability to lift 25 to 50 pounds on a frequent basis and the ability to occasionally lift items weighing up to 75 pounds. Must have the ability to work in extreme conditions, including but not limited to changing weather conditions, dust, mud, varying levels of noise from low to high decibels, varying degrees of light and dark, in and around artificial light and in a confined work area.This is a Safety Sensitive Role.
