Are you living your life's work? **Summary:** + The Supervisor of Financial Advocacy oversees the daily operations of the Patient Financial Advocacy Program within all Penn Medicine hospitals and physician groups. The supervisor ensures compliance with federal and state laws, regulations and hospital policies pertaining to Financial, Medical and Prescription Assistance. This position has direct responsibility for the organization's Patient Financial Advocates who serve to financially assist all Penn Medicine patients who are uninsured or underinsured. Performance has direct impact on meeting Corporate Revenue Cycle's Key Performance Indicators. (Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania/Chester County Hospital - Preservice - Full Time - 40 hours - Shift 1) **Responsibilities:** + Supervises the daily operations of the Patient Financial Advocacy team and monitors productivity and quality measures. Travels to different service locations, as needed + Ensures departmental policies and procedures are being followed on a regular basis and recommends updates as needed, focusing on continuous process improvement + Monitors staff cash collection activity on any applicable patient out-of-pocket liabilities. Ensures staff collect all applicable documentation for the completion of any/all patient financial programs + Manages staff; interviews, hires, assigns and directs work, appraises staff performance, addresses complaints and resolves issues that may arise, and acts as a mentor for department staff. Fosters safe and just work environment + Handles escalated patient concerns in a professional manner; independently resolves issues whenever possible and escalates to management team or outside departments as needed. + Ensures communication is provided to department service delivery areas when unresolved financial issues require a delay in treatment • Assists the department in achieving and maintaining each Hospital’s Candidate for Billing (CFB) daily goal + Maintains understanding of Revenue Cycle processes and tracks departmental progress to ensure the Revenue Cycle’s KPI benchmarks are being met + Performs duties in accordance with Penn Medicine and entity values, policies, and procedures + Other duties as assigned to support the unit, department, entity, and health system organization Credentials: + American Association of Healthcare Administrative Management (AAHAM) Revenue Cycle Certification preferred. + Association of Community Cancer Centers Boot Camp Certification preferred. Education or Equivalent Experience: + Bachelor of Arts or Science and 2+ years Hospital or Practice Revenue Cycle Setting is required. + or High School diploma and 5+ years Hospital or Practice Revenue Cycle Setting is required. + Previous supervisory/management role preferred.
