Your New Role...
The Warner Bros. Discovery Global Broadcasting Operations Team is seeking a Supervisor of Live News Operations to oversee the day-to-day preparation, planning and execution of live news across linear and digital platforms. The Supervisor should be passionate and knowledgeable about Live Operations with experience in Master Control and Live Events Planning. We seek an enthusiastic and agile problem-solver with exceptional execution and attention to detail. Excitement and interest in various national and world events are a big plus. This Supervisor will work collaboratively with internal and external partner groups including Master Control, Editorial, Production, Commercial Operations, Strategic Marketing, Programming, Bookings, Digital, and Global Broadcast Engineering. This role is a 24/7, holidays, nights, and weekends position.
Your Role Accountabilities...
Act as on-site Supervisor for nightly prime time programming. Often for more than one channel at the same time.Respond to issues as they arise during the programmingLead last minute decisions to recover air and decide on contingency needsCommunicate all deviations from the norm before, during, and after high profile eventsValidate all documentation and discrepancies are correctEscalate live event discrepancies and issues as neededBe forward-facing with clients and partners as neededFill in for the live operators as neededThrough professionalism, ownership and attitude set positive examples for team membersCollaborate with internal and external partners, including global partnersWork in accordance with network and digital clients with a professional, poised demeaner to help build and foster relationships and understand live news needs.Participate in planning, prepping, and testing for new software releases and workflowsAssist the management team with training initiatives, including development and delivery of training to staffParticipate in interviews and selection processes for new staff positionsActively participate in developing positive employee relations through coaching, performance feedback, career support and team fellowshipAll other duties as assignedQualifications & Experience...
Minimum 2 years of experience in a Broadcast Operations/Master Control environmentMinimum 2 years working on live eventsA proven track record of leadership within teamsCollege degree or equivalent relevant experienceAbility and desire to work under pressure and in a 24x7 environmentBroadcast playout automation (or similar) experienceStrong written and oral communicationDesirable Requirements…
