Newmont Tanami is on Aboriginal freehold land 540km northwest of Alice Springs. It is a long-life, low-cost, world-class asset in a core Newmont region. The Tanami Expansion 2 project, aims to extend the mine life beyond 2040, investing in a hoisting shaft which will increase the production of the underground mine from 2.6 Mtpa to 3.2 Mtpa.  Both the successful exploration within the underground operation and implementation of the first Tanami Expansion has laid the foundation to further develop the operation to remain a major contributor to the Newmont portfolio.

The Opportunity
Are you an organized and detail oriented planning professional with a knack for coordination and execution? We are seeking a Supervisor Maintenance Planning to join our team and play a critical role in ensuring the seamless planning, coordination, and execution of equipment procurement, onboarding, and operational processes.

 

Position Overview
The Supervisor Maintenance Planning, reporting to the Planning Superintendent, is responsible for aligning pre-purchase activities, site-specific build specifications, and onboarding strategies with organizational goals to maximize efficiency and safety. By collaborating with stakeholders, managing resources, and maintaining compliance with company standards, you will contributes to the successful integration of equipment and supports the long term reliability and sustainability of operations.

 

Key Responsibilities

Accurate forecasting and budgeting related to critical spares, specialized tools, and service items.Preparing and submitting AFEs, purchase orders, and contract requests to maintain cost-effective operations.Conducting quality inspections, performing risk assessments, and overseeing site-specific maintenance strategies to minimize downtime and ensure equipment reliability.Maintaining compliance with organizational safety and quality standards through rigorous oversight and strategic planning.

 

Operationally, this role positively impacts performance by conducting quality inspections, performing risk assessments, and overseeing site-specific maintenance strategies. The role requires strong decision making capabilities, with authority to influence build specifications, maintenance models, and onboarding processes. The role also provides strategic recommendations to address operational risks and equipment modifications, balancing site specific needs with organizational standards.

 

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

Significant experience in the mining industry with emphasis on maintenance.A mechanical or electrical trade qualification with post trade qualifications.A self-starter with the ability to adapt to a fast paced environment.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.Proficient in SAP, CMS systems, and other relevant software for planning, forecasting, and data management.In depth understanding of equipment specifications, maintenance strategies, and operational requirements.Familiarity with managing budgets, creating AFEs, and handling contract or purchase requests.
