Supervisor Nuclear Medicine

Central Maine Healthcare is seeking a Nuclear Medicine Supervisor to provide supervision and coordination of the Nuclear Medicine Department at Central Maine Medical Center. Position Overview: + Supervises and coordinates activities of the Nuclear Medicine Department, + Acts as Regional Liaison with oversight for Nuclear Medicine services Bridgton Hospital and Shields Healthcare Group PET/CT. + Supervises the preparing, administering and measuring of radioactive isotopes for use in therapeutic, diagnostic and tracer studies. Schedules, Performs and assists with nuclear medicine and PET/CT studies. + Ensures compliance with patient care quality standards as it relates to the care provided to all age groups of patients ranging from newborn to elderly. + Maintains performance improvement activities within the department and participates in CQI activities. + Ensures competency of Nuclear Medicine personnel. + Assists Imaging Services Manager in formulating the budget. + Maintains efficient and effective department operation while requiring compliance with the Joint Commission for Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, American College of Radiology, federal, state and local regulatory laws, standards and protocols. Essential Duties: + Assigns Nuclear Medicine Technologists to prepare radiopharmaceuticals, perform procedures and conduct laboratory tests. + Monitors departmental activities to ensure accuracy and efficiency of procedures. + Administers radiopharmaceuticals under the direct supervision of a Radiologist. + Follows the five medication rights and reduces the potential for medication errors. + Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient, including pediatric, geriatric and the general population. + Able to assess patient pain interfering with imaging procedure - makes appropriate physician contact for intervention. + Interacts professionally with patient/family. Consults other departments, as appropriate, to collaborate in patient care and performance improvement activities. + Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors. + Communicates appropriately and clearly to physicians, staff and administration. + Establishes and maintains standards of performance. + Trains staff in overall operation of department and use of equipment. + Attends Radiation Safety Committee meetings. + Develops, implements, revises and supervises radiation safety policies and procedures to ensure the safety of personnel and regulatory requirements for handling and disposing of radioactive materials. + Coordinates and provides staff education on radiation safety. + Attends and participates on hospital committees, as appropriate. + Ensures radioactive materials are stored properly. + Ensures preventative maintenance of Nuclear Medicine Equipment. + Cooperates in planning programs, safety and preparedness for disaster and fire. + Promotes effective intradepartmental and interdepartmental relationships. + Carries on continuous analysis, evaluation and audit of Nuclear Medicine Department. + Coordinates regional Nuclear Medicine support for affiliated and nonaffiliated Nuclear Medicine clinics managing staffing through contract supporting regions patient population and need for high acuity exams in rural areas + Facilitates classroom Didactic and Clinical hands on instruction for, Radiology and Nursing students through the Maine College of Healthcare Professionals School of Radiology, and Nursing + \Customer Service: Interacts with all individuals in a consistent manner, providing attention, support, and assistance to foster an environment of exceptional personal service.
