Job Description:
This position supervises pharmacy technicians, technician trainees, and supportive personnel and supports pharmacy leadership in directing technical and operational functions of the pharmacy. The incumbent provides leadership, education, training, and guidance for pharmacy caregivers and supportive personnel. The incumbent participates in the hiring, onboarding, scheduling, evaluation, and performance management of pharmacy technicians. The incumbent prepares schedules and organizes technician coverage to ensure departmental needs are consistently met. This position ensures excellence in the technical aspects of pharmacy practice.Schedule
Primarily days with some evening coverage. Rare weekends and holidays - not the expectation but may need depending on emergency needs for the department
Scope
As a Pharmacy Technician Supervisor, you need to know how to:
Supervises the patient care and operations of the department. Collaborates with department leadership team to evaluate service needs and volumes and adjust staffing levels accordingly. Assigns daily work schedules. Acts as a resource in the daily operations and activities of the department. Performs technian duties as required.
Develops, directs, and coordinates training of new and existing associates. Ensures associate competency. Oversees supply and equipment inventory to maintain optimal supply levels and ensure equipment repairs and preventative maintenance occur in a timely manner.
Supports the department leadership team in problem solving to address issues relating to patient safety, care and service. Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a department/unit team and interdepartmentally to facilitate that departments ability to meet its goals and objective. Ensures coordination of care with other departments to promote the highest level of patient care and satisfaction.
Assists with Human Resource management functions including interviewing, selection, orientation, education/training, feedback, performance evaluation, and policy and procedure development. Assists in updating and maintaining personnel files. Maintains and monitors Kronos records for employees. Presents and documents staff meetings as required. Assists in development of capital planning and operating budgets.
Collaborates with the care site leadership team to identify and drive quality and performance improvement initiatives. Ensures compliance with applicable regulatory guidelines and established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
Leads the technician work in the department. Implements directives related to adjusting staffing levels based on service needs and volumes. Acts as a resource and provides technical support.

Assists with all phases of pharmacy services as appropriate per training and scope and completes other duties as requested by supervisor- Completes documentation according to departmental standards.
Provide staffing or clinical care as required to support department operations for up to 80% of scheduled hours.

Minimum Qualifications
- High School or equivalent is required.
Current Pharmacy Technician certification (CPhT) or the ability to obtain within twelve (12) months of hire and must be maintained during employment- Minimum of two (2) years of work experience as a Pharmacy TechnicianPreferred:
Associates or Bachelors or higher degree- Technician training- Current BLS certification endorsed by the American Heart Association- Current 340B certification- At least five (5) years of work experience in a similar role/setting- Previous experience in a hospital pharmacy or similar environment
