Supervisor-Planning/Scheduling - ( 25000020 ) **Description** **PURPOSE OF POSITION:** Under the general direction of the Manager-Power Generation Maintenance, supervises, plans, and directs activities for JTEC Planning Department. The Supervisor – Planning and Scheduling works directly with the Maintenance, Operations, and Engineering management to coordinate all planning activities at the power stations. The Supervisor – Planning and Scheduling will oversee the planning and scheduling process to bridge any gap that exist between Maintenance, Operations, and Engineering. **ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:** 1. Responsible for ensuring job packages for every planned maintenance activities inclusive of repetitive maintenance and safe work practices are completed. 2. Coordinates activities of on-site contractors. 3. Performs the administrative duties of the CMMS and other planning/scheduling tools. 4. Holds a daily scheduling meeting to plan and coordinate the next day’s work. 5. Responsible for holding weekly planning meetings to review the CMMS backlog. 6. Analyzes and troubleshoots equipment malfunctions to eliminate future reduction of equipment availability. 7. Assures adherence to Utility policy, procedures, department directives, EPA/MDNR Emission permits, NERC/FERC and other compliance regulations, safety operating rules and non-discrimination/Affirmative Action Plans. 8. Reviews tag request forms to either approve or deny request. 9. Responsible for project planning and execution of smaller scope projects throughout the Power Station. 10. Ability to communicate appropriately with the various support departments throughout the utility, such as legal, purchasing, and environmental areas, as well as vendors, outside engineers, and other professional services. 11. Works with the Planner Scheduler to look at ways to most efficiently utilize manpower to minimize overtime and use of contract work. 12. Helps identify work that is emergency, urgent, outage, or urgent outage. 13. Coordinates work between Operations, Maintenance and Engineering departments to ensure work is prioritized to address the operational needs of the generation units. 14. Performs other related duties as requested by management. **QUALIFICATIONS:** **Education and Experience:** * Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or an applicable related field from an accredited college or university required. Exceptional power generation experience may be considered in lieu of college degree on a year for year basis. * An advanced degree in business, engineering, or management is preferred. * Five or more years' recent progressively responsible experience in the power production field or related industrial field with operations is required. * Recent supervisory experience and power generation budgeting is preferred. **Licensing/Certification:** Must have a valid driver’s license (minimum Class F). **Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:** * Effective working knowledge of: o Problems and practices applicable to plant operation/maintenance. o Computer systems and Mainsaver (CMMS). o Interpreting piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID) and practices. o Combustion turbines and steam power generating station. * A sound mechanical aptitude. * A general knowledge of management techniques and practices. * Skilled in verbal and written communications. * Ability to: o Plan, organize, supervise, and coordinate the work of the crew. o Handle personnel issues in a professional manner o Meet deadlines and schedule work for a timely completion. o Work within the constraints of a budget. o Rapidly analyze and resolve problems with judgement and decision making, and advise personnel in other departments as necessary o Successfully navigate various electronic programs including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suites, other applicable information technology applications, and self-service platforms. o Ensure EEO/AAP compliance according to CU’s policy 2.29 as well as all other company policies. o Maintain adherence to all company policies. **Physical Requirements:** Pushing, pulling, stooping, lifting 25 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally and working at heights is required. Ability to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word and receive detailed information through oral communication is required. Substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers, and close visual acuity to operate a computer is required. **Working Conditions:** Normal office and power station environment with the inherent noise and heat of large machinery and fugitive dust and fumes from the coal fuel. In order to successfully supervise subordinate employees, the work may be inside or outside of plant buildings in all types of weather as required. Work at heights on plant structures will sometimes be required. May work in proximity to toxic and corrosive chemicals.
