Location Description The Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania facility is 1,120,845 square feet and home to about 470 hard working team members who are proud to produce iconic pet food brands like Kibbles 'n Bits® and 9Lives®. This location has a cannery that produces wet dog food and there is also a Distribution Center on-site. Bloomsburg is home to Bloomsburg University, a municipal airport, a landmark Town Park with many acres of recreational activities, and has one of the largest and longest running fairs in the country. Responsibilities OVERVIEW: As a Quality Food Safety Supervisor in pet food production, you will oversee and ensure the highest standards of food safety and quality throughout the manufacturing process. Your primary responsibilities include monitoring production activities, conducting regular inspections, and implementing safety protocols to comply with regulatory requirements. You will lead a team of quality control technicians, provide training on food safety practices, and collaborate with other departments to address any quality issues. Your role is crucial in maintaining the integrity and safety of pet food products, ensuring they meet both company standards and customer expectations and you will help do that by supporting, implementing, and maintaining food safety practices as required through internal and external audits and regulatory inspections. Location: on-site primarily Monday - Friday 3rd shift (est. 8p-5a or 9p-6a) Responsibilities and Accountabilities: Ensures the department meets safety, quality and sanitation standards Responsible for team development, including skill building, performance management, staffing strategy and developing a “flow to the work” culture Partner with Quality Manager in developing and delivering Quality Pillar Master Plan Role models our Basic Beliefs, Our Commitment to Each Other, and Emotional Intelligence to build resonance Ensures that essential business information and general expectations are clearly communicated and understood by all members of the team Develop and coach technical and leadership skills of Quality team members to enhance peak performance through Post Consumer Brands performance management system Assist in developing and executing key technical and organizational projects while increasing PCB’s Quality Management System capability within the organization Responsible for driving department issues to root cause and developing a zero-loss and continuous improvement culture Champions department Daily Operation Review to ensure that department is setting a daily plan and following through on open items needed by the team. Responsible to collaborate across all pillars and leadership Provide technical quality and food safety support to Operations, Engineering/Maintenance, and Product Development with an emphasis on continuous improvement, consumer/customer requirements, and continuous product quality. Ensure compliance to all aspects of the PCB Quality Systems including cGMP/BRC/AIB as well as compliance to Food Safety and Sanitation requirements. Maintain historical key quality records as required by regulatory agencies. Process/System audits (on-line and in reports) must be conducted to ensure that the individual unit operations are in conformance with the site quality procedures. Audit Preparation: BRC audit preparation including the maintenance of the BRC procedures and records, both physical and electronic. Organization of paperwork and verification of Mass Balance grade palm oil products for the RSPO audit. Facilitate scheduling and timely completion of the internal audit program for the Site as well as log and track all the findings in the CAPA system. Procedure review, checklist completion and bovine and frozen chicken segregation areas compliance in preparation for the APHIS international export audit. Post-Audit Activities: Add all findings to the Master CAPA Log and track corrective and preventative actions to completion. Work with department managers to drive completion of CAPA in a timely manner. Perform CAPA effectiveness reviews and report gaps to the Quality Assurance Manager. Document Control: Manage the creation and revision of quality system documents. Coordinate, perform, and write work instructions as requested. Work with the Document Control System Technician and Department Managers to organize and maintain current site procedures. Training Assist with the maintenance of the Red Zone/ Data Collection Quality system. Assist QA In FDA and PA DOA documentation and inspections Trace reports and mock recalls. Assure compliance to all quality standards, hygienic zoning, and GMP requirements. Develop and conduct Quality and Food Safety function trainings in coordination with the training department. Maintain open communication with the production team to ensure integrity of raw materials and finished product. Investigate finished product holds and evaluate on a timely basis. Consult with production management on out of standard ingredients, processes and materials to minimize the impact of finished product quality. Review documentation of process preventive controls to ensure that Corporate and legal standards are being met and that substandard product is contained. Lead the laboratory technicians as they execute their daily task in evaluating ingredient, intermediate and finished product food-safety and quality characteristics. Lead lab equipment maintenance and calibrations in collaboration with the QFS Scientist. Represent the department with interdisciplinary factory groups to assist with recommendations for quality improvement Conduct reviews of production records, food safety controls, quality checks, and holds to proceed with positive release of products. Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree is preferred (Technical, Science, Engineering or a related degree preferred) Experience: 3 years of quality experience is required Prior experience in successfully managing people and / or teams in a high-performance work environment is preferred Demonstrated experience in developing people essential Must have a basic understanding of chemistry and microbiology Prior food processing and/or manufacturing experience is preferred Other: The candidate must have a thorough working knowledge of basic cGMPs (current Good Manufacturing Practices) and GDPs (Good Documentation Practices). The candidate must have a strong working knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint and possess basic statistical knowledge. Familiarity with HACCP and food safety a plus Must be willing to receive training in ongoing areas of FSMA and cGMP practices. Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Excellent organizational skills specific to people, projects or data is a must Excellent trouble-shooting and problem-solving skills also a must Demonstrated ability to lead and influence cross functional teams necessary Experience working in an environment that values peer-to-peer collaboration and managing upward through the organization Demonstrate ability to work effectively across organization boundaries and with diverse teams Ability to compile, analyze and present collected data in summary form as well as being capable of performing a variety of tests. Ability to communicate technical, scientific, and regulatory information, both written and verbally.
