Supervisor SPD - Sterile Processing - Mainland Hospital

POSITION SUMMARY

The supervisor works under the manager to develop daily plans for safe, timely and effective thru-put and output of sterile and/or high level disinfected medical devices. The position requires fiscal responsibility with instrument and supply ordering, tracking and reporting trends related to broken/missing instruments and supply deficits or overages. The supervisor must be able to operate in compliance of the NJDOH, CMS/TJC and AAMI standards. The supervisor must understand the progressive discipline process and follow the facilities policy and procedures. The supervisor will oversee front-line subordinates, complete orientation, competencies and performance evaluations. Continuing education and in-services shall be coordinated by the supervisor and manager for continuous process management and improvement. This role requires managing schedules, payroll, holiday, sick time and vacation for all employees. Must be able to work by utilizing lean six sigma methodologies to identify waste and develop lean processes. The supervisor will perform quality assurance of productivity and performance and will report out trends to the manager. The supervisor is expected to have a positive attitude that continues to lift the morale in the department with goal setting, empowerment, recognition and use of the AtlantiCare values. The position is a flexible position that often requires various shift coverage and essential staff when needed.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

EDUCATION: High school Diploma or equivalent required. Associates or Bachelor's degree or related field preferred.

 

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Certified Registered Central Sterilization Technician (CRCST) or (CBSPD) Certification as mandated by NJDOH.

Certified Healthcare Leader (CHL) within 2 years of hire and Certified Endoscope Processor Certification (CFER or CER) preferred.

EXPERIENCE: Supply Chain Management, Lean Six Sigma Methodology, Microsoft applications, computer skills a must, instrument tray tracking system, required, creating schedules, payroll, developing and creating dashboards, strategic planning, competency assessments, education and advanced knowledge base in all sterile processing systems.

 

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

Demonstrates the ability to perform the department specific competencies as listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, blood-borne pathogens, hazardous substances, and potential injury. This position requires extensive walking and standing and occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

This position reports to the Manager of Sterile Processing
