About the Position: The mission of the Corpus Christi Army Depot is to overhaul, repair, modify, retrofit, test and modernize helicopters, engines and components for all services and foreign military customers. Corpus Christi Army Depot (CCAD) is the Army's Center of Industrial and Technical Excellence for Rotary Wing Aviation Maintenance Responsibilities Serve as Supervisory Aircraft examiner (equivalent to full first level supervisor) over pre-shop analysis, exercising supervisory responsibility over work operations involving aircraft examiner subordinate workers. Plan and schedule work assignments on a daily or project to project basis within the instructions and time limits provided. Review instructions received and insured that arrangements are made for adequate personnel, materials, and equipment at the work site. Counsel employees on problems; resolves informal complaints and minor grievances; refers those unresolved to supervisor. Provide on the-job training for subordinates as needed and recommends employees for formal or cross-training to improve skills. Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprint reading) Ability To Lead or Supervise Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc. Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Trouble Shooting Use of Measuring Instruments PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work assignments involve frequent standing, sitting, climbing, bending, and working in cramped and awkward positions. Lifts items weighing up to 35 pounds without assistance, and over 35 pounds with assistance from another worker or weight handling equipment. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is dirty, greasy, and unpleasantly noisy. Work is performed both inside and outside. Inside work is performed on concrete floors where areas are drafty and occasionally damp and where fumes are present. Outside areas are unprotected from elements such as wind, rain, snow and wide temperature variations. Operating helicopters create strong downwash winds, which result in blowing dust and dirt, as well as high noise levels. Rigging, alignment, tracking, adjusting and operational checks in this environment necessitate the use of eye and hearing protections. The noise hazards require annual audiometric evaluation. Use of hand tools, safety wire and electrical equipment presents possibility of cuts, punctures, strains, burns, shocks, and similar injury. Working on elevated surfaces and work platforms and ladders presents possibility of falling and injuries such as broken bones and sprains. Incumbent occasionally works outside under field conditions when involved in onsite repair or evacuation of aircraft forced down by mechanical malfunctions. Inherent dangers of toxic chemicals, unstable working positions, moving rotor blades are always present. May be required to fly as a passenger when going to the work site. Required to utilize protective clothing and safety equipment in the performance of assigned duties; e.g., shoes, glasses, goggles, gloves, hard-hat. Hazardous working conditions will be compensated by Environmental Differential Pay (EDP).
