SUPERVISORY FIREFIGHTER
Summary You will serve as a SUPERVISORY FIREFIGHTER in the Fire Division of the Air Operations Department, U.S. Naval activities, Rota Naval Base, Rota, Spain. Responsibilities You will be required to devise solutions to the most complex problems related to firefighting and fire prevention. You will be responsible for structural fire protection for the city of Rota. You will be responsible for crash/fire rescue on the joint Spanish/United States Naval airfield which operates twenty-four hours a day. You will be occasionally assigned to the position of Acting Fire Chief while the Fire Chief is on leave or is on temporary assigned duty (TAD). You will be in charge of supervising the two fire stations located at opposite ends of the Naval Base: Fire Station # I located on the airfield and Fire Station #2 located in the Navy Fuel Department area in close proximity to Base Housing. You will plan work schedules and the sequencing of operations to assure an even flow and distribution of work and the meeting of schedules and deadlines. You will assign employees to tasks other than actual firefighting and follows through to insure proper completion of work requirements. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-09) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1. Providing technical advice to the Fire Chief concerning capabilities, programs and specific needs. 2. Researching, developing and coordinating standard operating procedures and policies. 3. Implementing and enforcing departmental policies and procedures. 4. Managing the National Fire Incident Reporting System (NFIRS) and utilizing initiative and applies sound management practices to protect all life and property.
