SUPERVISORY IT SPECIALIST (PLCYPLN/INFOSEC)
Summary You will serve as a SUPERVISORY INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (IT) SPECIALIST (PLCYNPLN/INFOSEC) in the Waterfront Field Support Branch (Code 10942), Waterfront and Production IT Support Division (Code 1094), Information Technology and Cybersecurity (ITACS) Office (Code 109) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD. Responsibilities You will plan, assign and evaluate work of employees, ensuring timely performance of a satisfactory amount and quality of work based on priorities. You will develop new techniques and establish new approaches and methods for IT procedures, plans, and techniques, and participate in the IT capital planning process. You will manage audits of IT programs and projects; and/or ensure the demanding application of information security/information assurance guidelines, principles, and practices in the distribution of planning and management services. You will manage and oversee the maintenance of the hardware and software installed on the various networks, operate as a standalone, or will be used to support various industrial equipment used by NNSY. You will develop procedures and processes to ensure information systems dependability and accessibility and to prevent and protect against unauthorized access to systems, networks, and information. You will conduct risk and vulnerability assessments of scheduled and installed information systems to recognize vulnerabilities, risks, and defense needs. You will establish and monitor metrics used in evaluating the accomplishment of IT goals and objectives and develops and uphold strategic plans. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience implementing a thorough knowledge of troubleshooting techniques used by System Administrators to analyze, diagnose, and repair miscellaneous equipment and software problems. Knowledge of the various software packages available to evaluate Jogs such as Network Monitor, Solar Winds, and Splunk. Experience implementing a mastery knowledge of new IT developments and applications (hardware, software, network, and telecommunication), emerging technologies and their applications to business processes, and application and implementation of information systems sufficient to design, develop, and manage IT systems that meet current and future organizational requirements. Experience implementing a mastery knowledge of Virtual Desktop architecture, including how to build, monitor, and manage thin clients and virtual desktops on Blade PCs. In addition, the incumbent has knowledge of Active Directory, Active Directory administrative tools, such as Hyena. Knowledge of remote access tools, such as GoverLan and Remote Desktop. Experience providing professional technical advice, guidance, and recommendations to management and other technical specialist on serious IT issues. In addition, the incumbent applies new development to formerly unsolvable problems; and makes decisions or recommendations that considerably influence important agency IT procedures or programs Experience implementing a thorough knowledge of supervising the IT workforce and directing senior leadership, large segments of the Command, and teams with representatives from other activities/commands in order to leverage human resources in the accomplishment of mission requirements. Experience implementing a mastery knowledge of workstation build procedures and Information Assurance (IA) compliance software tools such as Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP) Compliance Checker, Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS), and Windows System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM).
