Supervisory Logistics Management Specialist
Summary As Deputy Chief of Logistics at Ames Research Center, you will play a key leadership role in managing, supervising, and coordinating all logistics activities in support of the Agency and Center's goals. You will work closely with the Chief of Logistics to ensure the effective functioning of logistics operations, overseeing a diverse workforce consisting of both civil servant and contractor personnel. These personnel perform a wide range of logistical functions critical to the Center's success. Responsibilities In conjunction with or fully responsible in the absence of the Chief of Logistics, directs logistics operations, including overseeing day-to-day activities, and managing personnel. Oversees a workforce comprised of both civil servant and contractor personnel performing various logistical functions. In conjunction with or in the absence of the Chief of Logistics, directs the formulation and management of the Division’s operating budget, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively, and operations remain within fiscal constraints. Provides input on both long-term and short-term strategic planning efforts, supporting the implementation of initiatives that align with the Agency and Center’s objectives and goals. Manages the Division’s risk management process, identifying potential risks, and developing mitigation strategies. Performs a full range of supervisory duties which includes assigning and evaluating work; recommending personnel actions; taking disciplinary actions; and identifying training needs and developing employees. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. To qualify for GS-15, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level: Overseeing or managing a logistics function for an organization in areas such as: supply, equipment and personal property, property disposal, industrial property management, and transportation; Analyzing budgetary data to identify areas where financial shortfalls or discrepancies could pose potential risks to the organization's operations and strategic objectives; Supporting the development, execution, or oversight of financial plans within an organization.
