Responsibilities DUTIES: To serve as a first level supervisor with responsibility over a group of Community Readiness Specialists (CRSs) and Community Readiness Consultants (CRCs) and oversight for assigned Military/Airman & Family Readiness core programs and associated services. Military/Airman & Family Readiness Center (M/A&FRC) services include, but are not limited to: Transition Assistance, Relocation Assistance, Personal and Family Readiness, Personal Financial Readiness, Employment Assistance, Personal and Work Life, Information and Referral, Volunteer Resources, Voting Assistance, Exceptional Family Member Program-Family Support (EFMP-FS), Air Force Families Forever and other work/life services and activities provided to military members, retirees, Department of Defense (DoD) civilian members, and their families. DUTY 1: Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities. DUTY 2: Assesses needs and provides work/life services to leadership, organizations, and populations serviced by the M/A&FRC. DUTY 3: Supports and participates in quality initiatives. DUTY 4: Participates in special projects and initiatives and performs nonroutine assignments. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Individual Occupational Requirements for 0101 series and Group Standard for Professional & Scientific Positions. BASIC REQUIREMENT: Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. OR Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level which equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to successfully perform the duties of the Airman and Family Readiness Program Specialist. Examples of specialized experience includes Knowledge of a wide range of social science and social work principles and concepts and practices relating to the A&FR program areas. Knowledge of social services delivery systems as well as a wide range of concepts, principles, theories, and practices relating to one or more of the social or behavioral science fields. 2. Knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques used in team building; establishing team performance goals and assessing team progress; and providing effective team training. 3. Skill in conducting interviews to establish the nature and extent of concerns/issues; provide assistance in developing goals and plans; determine appropriate referral services/options; and provide practical guidance on work/life issues (e.g., family separation, personal financial management, etc.) when frequently there is difficulty in determining clients' needs or wants or in convincing them to accept that problems exist. 4. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective and positive working relationships with team members, other team leaders, individuals/families, leadership of organizations, and program representatives and officials. 5. Ability to assess and measure customer-organizations' trends, concerns, and needs; assist in identifying and prioritizing goals; and provide guidance and direction for the development and implementation of effective plans and tools to address such issues. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
