Summary About the Position: Serves as Army Museum Enterprise (AME), West Regional Chief. Provides oversight, coordination, administration, and management of the operations and museum programs in 8 to 10 Army field museums IAW AME priorities. Ensures professionalization of the workforce, adherence to regulatory standards, and achievement of reform initiatives, while facilitating local command priorities and requirements. Responsibilities Evaluate work performance of subordinates. Ensure compliance with Equal Employment Opportunity Affirmative Action standards and programs for hiring, personnel actions, and awards. Responsible for oversight, coordination, administration, and management of specified region museum programs. Provide guidance and taskings to staff curator working as liaison with relevant commands and garrisons. Provide supervision and coordination of long term strategic plans to manage and monitor performance of regional museums. Travel to oversee programs, monitor progress, and provide direction to subordinates at the regional museums. Shares knowledge with colleagues at various museum symposiums. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Basic Requirement for Museum Curator: Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in museum work; or in an applicable subject-matter field such as Museum Studies or History. OR Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. OR Experience: Four years of experience that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the four year course of study as shown in A above. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1.) plans, executes, supervises and evaluates the overall programs and projects assigned; 2.) executing museum resource management, both manpower and financial; 3.) composing policies and operational guidelines concerning museum management. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Administration and Management History and Archaeology Technical Competence Education FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
