About the Position: The mission of the Corpus Christi Army Depot is to overhaul, repair, modify, retrofit, test and modernize helicopters, engines and components for all services and foreign military customers. Corpus Christi Army Depot (CCAD) is the Army's Center of Industrial and Technical Excellence for Rotary Wing Aviation. Responsibilities Monitor daily operations and trends and to enable responsible personnel to take required action to ensure the validity of all data generated in the laboratory. Initiate and monitor contracts and forecasts and recommends budgetary expenditures dealing with laboratory and monitoring functions. Develop guidance for the training of operators of monitoring devices and associated equipment. Responsible for the development of laboratory tests and analytical methods used to determine the accuracy and precision of analytical results, subsequently modifying or adapting standing procedures as necessary. Responsible for management and supervision of all assigned personnel. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Basic Requirement: Physical Scientist A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics. OR B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to one of the majors, as shown in A above, that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 or above grade level in the Federal service which includes: Develop laboratory tests and analytical methods used to determine the accuracy and precision of analytical results and modify or adapt standing procedures; develop guidance for the training of operators monitoring devices and associated equipment; manage hazardous waste generated during igloo leaker isolation procedures, laboratory analysis, remedial operations and permitted or regulated facilities; maintain and manage Chemical Agent Monitoring Suit sheds and 90 day storage facilities. A one-year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Hazardous Materials Managing Human Resources Planning and Evaluating Teaches Others Technical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12). Education FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
