About the role...The Supervisory Principal Manager will manage risk for FFS by directing the activities of a team of supervision principals responsible for conducting pre-sale suitability/best interest review of securities business. The Supervisory Principal Manager is responsible for enforcing the Firm’s policies and procedures to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and rules set forth by state and federal regulatory agencies. As Principal the individual will review day to day business submitted by registered representatives that includes account recommendations, insurance and annuity recommendations, investment switches, and subsequent transactions and while maintaining current service level agreements. The Supervisory Principal Manager has full autonomy to approve and accept business on behalf of FFS within the firm’s guidelines mandated by FFS, FINRA, and various state and federal agencies.
What you'll accomplish...• Provide Principal review and approval on variety of business types: mutual funds, annuities, variable life insurance, 529 plans, and brokerage transactions.
• Review and accept as appropriate new accounts using a complete, prompt, and accurate review of a customer’s profile to include their risk tolerance, investment objectives, tax status and other facts and circumstances to determine best interest and suitability of recommendations that could include insurance, annuities, mutual funds, and other various securities products.
• Daily review of annuity applications, which may include replacements and 1035 exchanges
• Daily monitoring of the team inbox or Salesforce cases and respond as needed.
• Highly focused on the quality of pre-sale reviews with an emphasis on following documented procedures.
• Ensure phone tree is properly staffed and answered in a timely manner.
• Ensure that all principal review functions are completed in a timely manner.
• Monitor work queues at the beginning and intra-day to ensure service levels are being met.
• Onboarding new Principal through the new hire process.
• Identify and recommend ideas for process and procedure improvements.
• Maintain quality service by enforcing quality and customer service standards, analyzing and resolving quality and customer service problems, identifying trends, and recommending system improvements.
• Meet with FFS Compliance, Farmers Internal Audit, and regulatory representatives in conjunction with department audits and external inquiries.
• Work with the Compliance Department as needed to address regulatory concerns.
• Other duties as assigned, including other supervisory and/or operations functions.
• Escalate items to the Leadership as needed.
• 5+ years life insurance, broker dealer or investment adviser experience.
• 2 years in compliance or supervisory role a plus.
• Experience managing people and leading change initiatives.
• Experience with New Account Opening software platforms preferred.

• Strong PC Skills
• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify regulatory issues or compliance concerns in day-to-day activities.
• Knowledge of mutual funds, annuities, and other securities products.
• Knowledge of broker dealer sales practice issues and best practices.
• Knowledge of FINRA, SEC, and State rules and regulations.
• Excellent problem-solving and follow-up skills.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Conflict resolution skills.
• Ability to multi-task and work effectively in a fast-paced/high volume environment.
• Ability to make regulatory and supervisory-based decisions on a day-to-day basis and escalate issues and concerns.
• Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing in a professional and effective way.
