SUPERVISORY SHIP PROGRESSMAN (GENERAL)
Summary You will serve as a SUPERVISORY SHIP PROGRESSMAN (GENERAL) in the OPERATIONS DIVISION at Detachment Guam of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF. Responsibilities You will serve as a first level supervisor over an organizational unit or segment which include nonsupervisory Ship Progressman (General). You will be responsible for planning, assigning and directing work, training subordinates, initiating personnel request, enforcing disciplinary regulations, and ensuring good housekeeping practices on ship repair operations. You will plan the use of subordinate workers equipment, facilities, and materials on a week-to-week or month-to-month basis; establishes deadlines, priorities, and work sequences; and plan work assignments. You will determine the number and types of workers needed to accomplish specific projects; determine how many assignments can be accomplished concurrently, which ones may be delayed; considering skills, personnel, materials, and equipment available. You will assign work to subordinate employees, provide indirect oversight of trade workers (military personnel) and technical direction and/or assistance in accomplishing the work for direct and indirect employees. You will set performance standards, counsels employees on performance, and formally appraise employees' performance in accordance with (IAW) established guidelines. You will be responsible for accomplishing regular worksite inspections of their Area of Responsibility to ensure that all cleanliness and safety standards are enforced through their subordinates. You will coordinate work with supporting or related work functions controlled by other supervisors. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.
