About the Position: The incumbent will be assigned to the 407th Army Field Support Brigade, Logistics Readiness Center, Transportation Division, at Fort Carson, Colorado. Responsibilities Serve as the Transportation Division Chief responsible for oversight and coordination of the installation transportation program, including tenant activities and geographic areas of support. Coordinate all Transportation manpower support for the installation mission. Plan and manage Transportation Division activities within available resources to provide optimum response to needs and requirements of assigned, attached and/or supported elements of the installation. Implement policies, programs, and systems based on guidance and directives of higher headquarters; and promote effectiveness, improved techniques, increased employee output, and reduced unit cost of production. Evaluate and track non-tactical vehicle program recommending improved utilization and operations. Serve as advisor to the Logistics Readiness Center (LRC) Director on overall matters relating to the division and serve as LRC's subject matter expert relating to transportation issues. Develop the Program Objective Memorandum (POM) forecasted requirements for the Installation Transportation activities. Provide the organization's transportation funding priorities by mission according to the availability of funds. Coordinate work of the Transportation Division with installation staff activities and with organizations and units to whom support services are provided. Plan, assign, and evaluate work of subordinates. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Managing a transportation program that includes the movement of items such as personal property, freight shipments, and hazardous material; 2) Determining budget allocations based on operational priorities; 3) Providing transportation advice and/or guidance to personnel; and 4) Leading projects and/or personnel. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Financial Management Manages Human Resources Planning and Evaluating Transportation Policy and Regulation Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13). Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required.
