We are looking for a Supplier Development Engineer with a main responsibility in the mechanical equipment category in Wärtsilä Energy, Engine Power Plants. The preferred location for this position is Vaasa, Finland but also Turku and Helsinki are negotiable. We offer the possibility of hybrid remote work.
Your role and responsibilities
As a Supplier Development Engineer, your work will include verifying that suppliers are following Wärtsilä requirements and legislations through assessments and audits. You will also monitor and develop supplier performance in sustainability, quality, delivery and cost activities utilising Supplier Development tools (e.g. PCPA, WPIP). Supplier Development Engineers are actively participating in the category action plans and decision-making. Categories are working on a global scale with different business units and stakeholders.
The tasks can also be adjusted based on your individual skills and interests. You will be working as a part of an energetic and highly competent Supplier Development & Quality Assurance team with diverse expertise.
Requirements for the position:
M.Sc. or B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Management, Process Management or equivalent field Preferably previous work experience in mechanical engineering, project management, supply chain management, sourcing or procurement Strong personal drive, used to take own initiative and be proactive Good presentation and teamwork skills Systematic and active approach to work
To be able to succeed in the position, we expect you to have:
Willingness to travel 40 – 80 days per year Knowledge of sustainability, quality, environmental, health and safety management systems is seen as an advantage Previous experience in supplier and process audits and lead auditor qualification (e.g ISO 9001 lead auditor certification) is seen as an advantage Fluency in English, a good level of Finnish is also seen as an advantage
