The Supplier Development Specialist is responsible for managing relationships with key vendors, peers and company stake holders collaborating with them to improve efficiency, facilitate continuous improvements initiatives and problem resolution of quality issues / opportunities. Under the leadership of the Division Sourcing & Procurement Manager, you will participate in all division wide negotiations and be responsible for coordinating all supplier agreements. You will monitor performance against contractual obligations, scorecards and key performance indicators, and development strategies to optimize the overall supply chain by ensuring suppliers meet quality and delivery standards. Position will report to the Sourcing & Procurement Manager.
Supplier evaluation and selection:
Assess potential suppliers based on quality, price, delivery time, and other relevant factors to identify the best partners.
Collaborates with the Division to establish preferred supplier selection criteria based on evaluations of supplier price, quality, delivery, certifications, and compliance with governmental procurement regulations.
Participate in supplier site audits and/or coordinate supplier audits with a cross functional team to determine appropriateness and quality of supplier’s product.
Performance monitoring:
Track supplier performance against key metrics like delivery time, quality levels, and cost to identify areas for improvement.
Continuous improvement initiatives:
Works with Suppliers to develop and manage continuous improvement programs, addressing quality, delivery, service as well as price.
Issues and coordinates timely completion of supplier corrective and preventive actions.
Collaboration and communication:
Building strong relationships with suppliers through regular communication and collaboration to address issues and opportunities.
Capacity planning:
Forecasting future demand and working with suppliers to ensure they have the capacity to meet production needs.
Meet regularly with our most important suppliers in your category to review forecasts, strategies, capacity, performance, and industry trends.
Agreement Management:
Negotiate prices and contract terms with suppliers to achieve the best value for the company.
Identify supply chain strategies that drive down costs, improve efficiency, mitigate risk, and create value add propositions for our customers.
Supplier onboarding:
Seek out and effectively vet new vendors.
Guide new suppliers through the process of becoming qualified vendors.
Risk management:
Identify potential risks associated with suppliers and mitigate those risks through contingency plans.
-Minimum of 3 to 5 years supplier development experience.
- 4 year college degree in business, engineering or materials management.
-Possess analytical and technical skills required to understand business practices.
-Must have advanced computer skills and be able to understand of electronic processing.
-Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills for effective interface with all internal and external contacts.
-Must be an innovator and embrace lean enterprises principles and practices.
