Job Description
This position involves direct contact with multiple departments within the manufacturing site and supports customer requests related to supplied parts. The primary responsibility of the Supplier Quality Engineer is to ensure that raw materials and components meet all regulatory, customer, and design requirements. The role also involves managing supplier change points, providing support to suppliers, and leading corrective actions and reporting for supplier-related internal and customer complaints. This position offers opportunities to work with various aspects of the manufacturing processes, departments, and levels of management within the company, suppliers, and customers both domestically and internationally.
Responsibilities
+ Confirm supplier manufacturing processes meet specifications through verification, audits, measurements, trials, experiments, and reports/presentations to internal management.
+ Manage change points from suppliers to gain customer approval for initial production parts.
+ Perform daily customer service and plant support activities.
+ Lead internal teams in corrective action activities, including root cause analysis and countermeasures, report generation, and presentation for supplier complaints.
+ Collaborate with other team members such as Process Engineers, Test Engineers, Analysis Engineers, QA Engineers, Maintenance, Technical Associates, and production personnel.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ 4-year college degree with 4 years of related work experience in manufacturing
+ Knowledge of Quality Systems (PPAP/IPPAAR part approval, CAPA corrective/preventive actions)
+ Experience dealing with suppliers
+ Supplier audit experience
+ Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance (GD&T), print interpretation
+ Familiarity with manufacturing processes
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
+ Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally (up to 20%)
+ Experience with metal stampings or sintered metals
+ Work experience in the automotive industry, with an emphasis on metrology
+ Knowledge of Quality Systems such as IATF16949, PPAP, CAPA, APQP, FMEA, Control Plans, etc.
+ Experience with the development of SAP, Control Plans, FMEA’s, Process Operations Standards, etc.
+ Analytical skills to understand product and process change points impact
+ Knowledge of problem-solving tools such as 5P, 5-why, Fishbone, FTA, 8D
Work Environment
The work environment includes 7 different manufacturing processes: Machining, Stamping, Welding, Paint, Injection Molding, Sub-assembly, and Final assembly. The role requires the ability to lift up to 35 lbs. The standard work schedule is a day shift from Monday through Friday, with an average of around 45 hours per week. The position requires up to 50% travel to visit suppliers, with most travel being 1-2 times a month or less to suppliers within the region/driving distance. The role also requires flexibility to work all shifts and days as needed, and the ability to work for long periods while sitting, standing, walking, and bending.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $40.00/hr.
