Supplier Quality Engineer
**POSITION DESCRIPTION** **JOB TITLE: Supplier Quality Engineer** **REPORTS TO:** Quality Manager **RELATIONSHIPS: Suppliers, Sales, Operations, Engineering, Marketing, Customer Service** **LOCATION: Elizabethtown, NC** **POSITION SUMMARY:** Reports to the site Quality Manager and is responsible for organizing and servicing the Quality needs of Customers, and Manufacturing Operations by improving quality within Specialty Products Technologies’ supplier base by leading both reactive and proactive efforts. Major work involves driving supplier performance management through scorecards, coordinating audits or surveys of suppliers, and supplier containment/corrective actions. The incumbent will work with a team of operations professionals, utilizing FBS (Fortive Business System) Continuous Improvement/Lean Manufacturing tools, to meet or exceed corporate and customer expectations, while leading key quality and reliability improvement initiatives. **Primary Responsibilities** + Establish and implement quality practices consistent with operations and customer requirements. + Pro-active development of identified “Strategic” suppliers with emphasis on Quality, Delivery, PPAP, etc. + Work with suppliers to refine and enhance products and processes by applying continuous improvement methodology, lean manufacturing principles, and techniques to assure quality of goods and services provided. + Perform Quality System and Process Audits / CGD Surveys at current suppliers including reporting audit/survey results, recommending improvements, and driving root cause and corrective action. + Participate in supplier related Material Review Board (MRB). Lead cross functional discussions with Engineering, Quality, and suppliers on major quality issues impacting production. + Drive 8D / 7-step corrective action efforts with global suppliers on major quality issues impacting SPT assembly and production. + Responsible for tracking and reporting of supplier quality metrics at a site and corporate level. + Supervise Quality Technician on reactive supplier quality efforts and manage associate hours, performance, and development. + Assist Supply Chain in developing and executing processes to both effectively qualify new and exit risky suppliers. + Drive improvement of supplier performance through a scorecard that measures quality, delivery, and cost. + Drive quality and productivity (team effectiveness and efficiency) improvements using FBS principles. + Assist in the completion and closure of product non-conformance reports. + Provide documentation of root cause and corrective actions for customer complaints involving supplier non conformances. **Qualifications** + Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in a Technical discipline; Engineering discipline from a four-year University preferred. **Required Experience:** + Three to five years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. + Working knowledge of Supplier Quality systems and processes required. + Detailed working knowledge of the PPAP process and associated process documentation including but not limited to FMEA, Control Plans, Process Flow, process capabilities, gage R&R’s. + Demonstrated ability to simplify complex information and prepare executive summaries. + Proven ability to prioritize and communicate workload. + Excellent organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal. + Lean Manufacturing experience required. **Personal trait profile:** + Must be able to manage multiple tasks and work well under pressure within changing deadlines and time constraints, while still providing high quality results. + Must be detail oriented, well organized and able to prioritize multiple projects. + Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interpret and explain complex technical instructions. + Must be able to work as a member of a team and work well with peers and managers. + The associate must be willing and able to travel by all forms of transportation. **Fortive Corporation Overview** Fortive’s essential technology makes the world stronger, safer, and smarter.
