Job Description

Job Summary:

As a Supply Quality Engineer, this position holder will work as a Liaison between Sourcing and Quality and Operations. The Supplier Quality Engineer will engage with suppliers improving Quality and Supplier relations. The incumbent will also support established Quality Objectives and corporate KPI’s as part of Business Systems.

  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. (other duties may be assigned):

 

Qualifies suppliers according to company standards and may administer a Supplier Source Inspection Program in receiving inspection to ensure cost effectiveness.

 Influence systemic procedural updates based on best-practices and lessons learned.

 Mentor other engineers and be mentored.

 Monitors parts from acquisition through the manufacturing cycle and communicates and resolves supplier-related problems as they occur.

 Evaluates suppliers’ internal functions and assess their overall performance and provides feedback in assessment of their operation.

 Provides Quality Engineering support to R&D in partnership with Manufacturing Engineer to deliver quality parts, materials, and services, prevent defects and allow Teledyne to provide customers with the highest quality and reliable products.

 Provides technical guidance and quality compliance for Supplier Quality engagement throughout the lifecycle on newly qualified parts from NPI and implementing strategies for driving product quality and continuous improvement, ensuring purchased products and components are manufactured and qualified in accordance to applicable industry standards, regulatory requirements, and customer requirements.

 Performance Component Qualification (Process Characterization, Process Capability Analysis, Test Method Validation, FAI) of new supplier manufactured components as part of NPI projects.

 Deliver the Product Inspection requirements as required and associated test method validation for Teledyne parts

 Recommends equipment and process modifications for suppliers to meet quality standards and improve process capabilities and manufacturing techniques.

 Review product development requirements for compatibility with processing methods.

 Develops and conducts statistical analysis or recommends additions to document work and improving supply quality value stream

 Works with suppliers to develop and/or optimize new manufacturing concepts, processes, and procedures. This can include scouting and feasibility work, material selection, process and equipment selection, tooling/fixture and equipment installation and assessment of inputs, outputs, and alignment to requirements.

Ensuring the supplier quality system is maintained and documented.

Reviewing and approving quality documentation and records in accordance to Teledyne policy.

Analyzing data for reports and validation activities as well as process improvement initiatives

Timely review and approval of nonconforming records for nonconforming material within the warehouse and determining or partnering with business to determine appropriate product disposition

Assisting with delivery hold execution and leading some hold activities

Non-Conformance Management (Root Cause Analysis, Corrections, Corrective and Preventive Actions) in accordance with required timelines

Ensuring timely review and approval of nonconforming records for nonconforming material within the warehouse and facilitating appropriate product dispositions partnering with business where necessary.

Meeting departmental metrics

Providing scheduled reports on KPIs relating to Supplier Quality Performance, such as; OTD, Quality, Cost, etc.,

Collaborate in developing advanced supplier monitoring criteria.

Implementing supplier Improvement plans with under-performing suppliers.

Perform investigations on non-conformances identified as Supplier related.

Manage the Supplier Corrective Action Process ensuring on-time response and corrective action implementation.

Conduct Supplier audits; qualification, continuous monitoring, and for-cause.

Supports Incoming Inspection with Inspection Plans identifying Critical to Quality Attributes.

Initiating, negotiating, and managing Quality Agreements with suppliers.

Chair internal MRB and facilitate the progress to resolve MRB issue with related departments.

Perform Duties as assigned.


Requirements:                                       

Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university in a related field and 5-8 years of directly related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

Travel Requirements:

Must be able to travel 25% of the time to supplier sites

  

Salary Range:

$93,500.00-$125,950.000

The anticipated salary range listed for this role is only an estimate. Actual compensation for successful candidates is carefully determined based on several factors including, but not limited to, location, education/training, work experience, key skills, and type of position.
