Position Summary: The Supplier Quality Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that all materials and components provided by suppliers meet the stringent quality standards required by Future Metals and its Tier 1 Aerospace customers.  The SQE will work closely with suppliers to monitor, evaluate, and improve their quality systems, ensuring that materials and products conform to required specifications. This role will also involve supplier audits, root cause analysis, and corrective actions to resolve any issues that arise, driving continuous improvement across the supply chain.

Supplier Quality Management System Development

Develop and maintain supplier quality standards in accordance with company and industry requirements per AS9100.Collaborate with suppliers and purchasing to establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for quality performance.Be an active participant in the implementation of the APQP process for Distribution.

Supplier Control

Review supplier processes and procedures to identify opportunities for improvement and prevent recurring quality issues.Investigate non-conformities and work with suppliers to perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.Lead or participate in cross-functional teams to resolve quality issues and enhance supplier performance and customer satisfaction.Be the Voice of the Customer for Future Metals Supply ChainAttend in person meetings and process reviews with Suppliers.Conduct on-site inspections, reviews, and evaluations of supplier facilities and production processes.Maintain Scorecards and own the actions required to improve Supplier Scores.

Material Validation

Control the testing process by collaborating with the Purchasing department.Ensure Product Safety requirements are met by Suppliers.

Product Development

Support new product development processes by ensuring that suppliers meet quality and technical requirements throughout APQP cycle.Collaborate with Sales and Purchasing to provide input on supplier selection and qualification.

Continuous Improvement

Be an active participant in the CI process to improve KPI’s throughout the APQP process.Drive continuous improvement initiatives by working with suppliers to reduce defect rates, improve delivery performance, and enhance overall quality.

Qualifications And Competencies:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical field.3-5 years of experience in supplier quality engineering, preferably in the metals or manufacturing industry.  Experience inside a metal tubing mill will be highly regarded.Strong understanding of AS9100.Proficiency in quality tools and methodologies such as APQP, FMEA, PPAP, SPC, and 8D.Hands-on experience conducting supplier audits and working with suppliers to resolve quality issues.Knowledge of metals manufacturing processes, metallurgy, and material properties is required.Strong problem-solving skills and experience with root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with suppliers and internal teams.Ability to travel to supplier locations as needed. Travel expectancy between 40% - 50% inside the US with an additional 5% - 10% InternationallyCertified Quality Engineer (CQE) or other relevant quality certifications preferred.Lean Six Sigma certification preferred.AIAG APQP certification preferredOriented to action and follow through.Excellent Communication skills that translate to all stakeholdersComputer literacy skills and comfort with various types of technology used in the industry.Ability to work well as a team and interact with different groups of people
