Job Description

The Supplier Quality Engineer Liaison provides Supplier Quality Engineering support to the Copeland Plant(s) assigned for all commodities. Act as a liaison between Suppliers, plant personnel, and commodity Supplier Quality Engineers (SQEs) to assure quick resolution of quality issues.

As A Supplier Quality Engineer Liaison, You Will:

Track and report plant incoming rejects and quality issues. Identify supply base quality improvement opportunities. Work with Suppliers and commodity / regional SQEs to implement improvements and corrective actionsAssist with the management of SCAR System, facilitate SCAR responses and approval. Assure SCARs are adequate and permanently resolve issuesCoordinate non-conforming parts disposition. Facilitate reject containment, sorting and return to Suppliers. Assure inspection technique is correct and correlates with supplier. Assure adequate data is captured and sent to supplier. Quickly resolve supplier quality issues to prevent plant downtimeAssure the development and implementation of incoming inspection (RMA) processes and procedures for all incoming parts. Consult with the commodity SQE in selecting proper gages, proper inspection techniques, and correlating measurement results with supplier’s results. Conduct gage R & RsDevelop and support suppliers through visits, CSA quality audits, process audits, lean projects, providing manufacturing process technical guidance, and other means as appropriateSupport SQE Program Engineer with new product development programs and supplier transitions from a supplier quality perspective. This includes setting up RMA / inspection requirements, assisting with plant pilots, providing pilot feedback, and determining plant specific packaging requirements

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCES & SKILLS:

4 Year technical degree or 2 year technical degree with equivalent experienceAt least 2 years quality engineering experience including formal training in: APQP; Flow Charting, Control plans, PFMEAKnowledge of Statistical Process Control, Measurement System Analysis (Gage R&R), Quality Auditing; System and process, and Quality Systems; ISO 9001 and/or IATF16949Problem Solving, Corrective Action, Process Improvement TechniquesProficient ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications including GD&TUp to 30% domestic travel to suppliers and Copeland locationsLegal work authorization in the United States - Sponsorship will not be provided for this role

Certifications in ASQ (CQA, CQE, CSQP)Certified 6 Sigma Green Belt or EquivalentExtensive knowledge and experience with the processes and controls applicable to the manufacture of assigned commodities, such as: steel stampings, aluminum, castings, motors, powdered metal, protectors, coils, and machiningBroad knowledge of other commodities, their manufacturing processes, and controlsAdvanced statistics, problem solving, and process improvement techniquesHigh level communication and leadership skills. Proficient at leading teams and projectsUnderstanding/knowledge of Lean principles (Kaizen, Std work, Kanban, VSM, Continuous Flow, 5S+1, Poke-yoke, waste elimination)

Schedule
The facility works both a 4-day work week and a 5-day work week, depending on the assignment. Most jobs provide service and support to a specific shift, although some jobs provide support across both shifts. Our shifts schedules are:

First Machining 

4:45 AM to 3:15 PM 

Second Machining 

3:15 PM to 1:45 AM 

First Assembly 

6:00 AM to 4:30 PM 

Second Assembly 

5:00 PM to 3:30 AM 


Support Personnel: Our teams work together to ensure their chosen work schedules are supporting our customers. These jobs typically work a 5-day work week.

About Our Location
Our plant in Lebanon, MO is Copeland’s flagship operation for scroll compressor assembly and a machining powerhouse for main bearing housings and scroll elements, with over 60 million scroll compressors produced in the past 27 years.
