Key job responsibilities
- Lead strategic initiatives related to network capacity within Amazon's various business units.
- Concentrate on optimizing and managing the flow of goods, information, or services within the supply chain network.
- Balance supply and demand, assess and improve the efficiency of distribution networks, warehouses, or logistics operations.
- Analyze and synthesize data to identify opportunities for enhancing customer experiences and operational efficiency in network capacity.
- Define metrics, develop program management mechanisms, and invent/simplify processes to drive decision-making in complex network capacity situations.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across different functions, influencing and facilitating agreements to achieve shared network capacity goals.
- Manage cross-functional network capacity initiatives, ensuring continuous improvement and adherence to lean philosophy at scale.
- Own a portfolio of cross-functional programs related to network capacity, driving performance improvement and efficiency in project delivery.
- Identify and deliver operational improvement opportunities in network capacity, focusing on inventory management, logistics strategy, and transportation optimization.
- Monitor and optimize key network capacity metrics to ensure the smooth flow of goods or services through the supply chain network.
A day in the life
The First Mile- Short Term Capacity and Execution (FM-SCE) team is a part of AMXL Supply Chain. We own AMXL fulfillment center's (FC) short term capacity (physical), fullness relief and Inbound execution across USA and Canada (CA). The role will require managing USA and CA Fulfillment Center's fullness, yard management, trailer management, bin level capacity management and providing relief solutions to execute Inbound operations seamlessly. The Supply Chain Manager will collaborate cross functionally with Operations, ACES, Production Planning Team (PPT), Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP), Reverse Logistics, Long Term Planning, Ops engineering, Analytics and influence Senior Leadership on IB execution relief solutions.

AMXL was launched in September of 2018 to support Amazon’s expansion into the >$600B Heavy/Bulky product market share segment. The NA AMXL Supply Chain Execution team (SCE) plays the leading role in the growth and profitability of our network. We are responsible for calibrating our capacity to expected demand, overseeing the health of our end-to-end supply chain, and making structural changes to our network (inbound and outbound connectivity, critical pull times (CPTs), new ship methods, use of 3P carriers, availability of delivery slots, Delivery Service Provider (DSP) and associate hiring, etc.) to meet our cost, growth, and quality goals. Over the last five years, AMXL has become arguably the best Heavy Bulky fulfillment and delivery provider in the world with in terms of Delivery Estimate Accuracy, costs, and fewer customer contacts. Our NA network is currently supporting over $9B in gross merchandise sales (GMS), with expectations of double-digit % growth over the next three years.
You will start the week by reviewing Prime and Damageland fullness status of all AMXL US and CA fulfillment centers and review other metrics such as Inbound backlog, S&OP forecast, available capacity, trailer backlog/dwells. Based on this review, you will recommend relief solutions such as bin consolidation, Fulfillment Option Service (FOS) enable/disable for the specific freight type, 1:1 IB:OB volume execution, depleting pickable bucket in damageland and so on. While the front half of the week is focused on Inbound execution/planning, the second half of the week will be focused on continuous improvement projects and site engagement for planned actions . This will call for collaboration with internal stakeholders such as Production planning team, S&OP, Operations, ACES, Inventory Health, Analytics.
