This position provides leadership and guidance to commodity and or product launch purchasing teams to support the business needs of Arden. Will have accountability for KPIs in areas of responsibilities assigned. Provides leadership in the areas of commodity strategies, NPI program launches, commercial negotiations, supplier performance, and VA/VE cost reduction idea generation, evaluation, and implementation. Champions supplier escalations from cross-functional departments to improve supplier performance as needed. Key responsibilities + Reviews, modifies, creates policies and procedures to improve department efficiency and has accountability as owner for areas assigned. + Assures policies and procedures meet QMS certification requirements and administers training department policies and procedures + Provides strategic leadership and guidance to maintain compliance of IATF 16949 as it pertains to the Purchasing team and activities + Drives for YoY cost savings to meet Arden financial goals adding value to the business through cost resuction workshops, supplier neogotiations, monitoring, and driving execution of projects + Works with suppliers to improve supplier performance in the areas of Cost, quality, and delivery + Confirms capacity for the supply base and assures suppliers have capacity to meet the forecast requirements + Develops and implements complex strategies and commodity forecasts for the facility + Provides leadership and inputs to develop departmental budgets, staffing needs, and forecast reviews that meet campus financial goals + Ensures that all purchasing activities are executed to achieve the short and long term business strategy along with the operating and financial objectives. + Drives VA/VE projects and activities within the supply chain to reduce cost of supplied parts + Supports Asheville production operations to assure uninterrupted supply to production lines + Arranges commercial agreements with optimal lot sizes to support manufacturing strategies + Works with all functional area managers to support commercial negotiations where required + Manages talent within team including conducting performance reviews + Administers coaching and provides training to team members to develop talent + Staffs, trains and drives continuous improvement into the business processes for all purchasing disciplines. + Provides guidance and approval of basic supplier agreements. + Develops supplier capabilities to meet company requirements. + Establishes, nurtures, maintains and enlarges key supplier relationships. + Implements programs and processes that strive to continually reduce the amount of working capital. + Implements continuous improvement programs and negotiates long term contracts with suppliers that result in cost savings. + Maintains knowledge of market conditions, anticipates market changes and recommends appropriate actions. + Introduces the organization to new technical developments in materials that will help the organization achieve its objectives + Crates value by optimizing all aspects of the supply chain. + Transport material as required using proper handling methods. + Keep work area in orderly condition with respect to proper materials, tools, equipment, and personal belongings. (Includes cleaning of equipment, floors, tables, etc.) + Maintain quality standards by following proper inspection procedures. + Understand and adhere to current health, safety, and environmental policies. + Understand and adhere to current quality and control policies. + Perform other duties as needed. What we’re looking for + Requires a Bachelor degree in Industrial /Mechanical Engineering/ Business or related field. A MBA is preferred + At least 5 years of experience in purchasing required. + Ability to supervise a group of mid or senior level purchasing professionals and /or entry level. + Strong functional technical skills. + Demonstrated leadership skills are required. + Experience in low cost sourcing is required. + Experience using SAP or similar system required. + Ability to provide functional leadership skills. + Proficiency using Microsoft Office: (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) required. + Knowledge of IATF 16949, TS16949, and ISO 14001 is preferred + Ability to travel 50% is required for both foreign and domestic + Proficient in English, Spanish is a plus + Attendance on the job is essential. + Must be able to work in a team environment. + Must be able to follow instructions, safety rules and regulations. + What we believe + Inclusion: Respecting Individuals + Integrity: Honoring truth + Excellence: Focusing on results + Responsibility: Our commitment + Collaboration: Building trust Safety This position will adhere to the BorgWarner Environmental Health and Safety Program by following all safety rules, procedures, practices, training, and safe use of equipment; this includes use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
