Supply Chain Operations Support - Data Analyst Co-Op (Hybrid) - July 2025

The Co-Op Program will be a 6-month program aimed at developing high-potential Staples leaders. The program is designed to give you real work experience, aligning you with strategic projects. The Co-Op program will provide a diverse field of responsibility and you will work directly with leaders across several business units to help drive deeper understandings of business performance and trends, as well as ensure businesses are performing in line with short and long-term objectives.

This Co-Op position requires you to be in a hybrid working model (at least 3 days in the office, and 2 days remote) based at the Staples, Inc. Corporate Headquarters in Framingham, MA. 

Target Start Date: July 7, 2025 - December 12, 2025

Note: This Co-Op position is ONLY eligible for students enrolled in the Northeastern University graduate program. 

Position Summary

The Data Analyst Co-Op (Supply Chai) is responsible for applying analytical methods to improve decision-making across the Staples’ Supply Chain 

Using mathematical modeling, statistical analysis, and mathematical optimization, the individual will play an important role in the tactical execution of optimal or near-optimal solutions to complex decision-making problems 

What you’ll be doing: 

Apply analytical methods to solve complex, data-driven business problems that will ultimately have a direct impact on the Staple’s bottom line Communicate results to management as needed Research, design, and implement data models and innovative algorithms to analyze diverse sources of data to realize actionable results Support Data Science efforts in Staples Supply chain in a diverse array of challenges within Inventory Management, FC Operations, and Logistics. 

What's Needed - Basic Qualifications:

Pursuing a master's degree in an Analytical field (Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Operations Research, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or related fields with a focus on analytical work) 

What's Needed - Preferred Qualifications: 

Programming Skills developing applications in NodeJS, Go, Python, Java, or Scala Knowledge and experience using major statistical analysis tools such as R, Matlab, or SAS Experience working with RDBMS and NoSQL data stores on-premise and in the Cloud (e.g.: SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Cassandra, Azure Cosmos DB, DynamoDB, Redshift, Teradata, Oracle, Snowflake) Experience building solutions on public cloud platforms (e.g.: Azure, AWS, GCP, Snowflake) using platform services and integrating with various on-premise systems Experience working with data visualization and BI tools such as Tableau, Power BI, MicroStrategy & QlikView Experience with data mining, mathematical modeling, statistical analysis, and mathematical optimization tools, including linear programming, integer programming, mixed integer programming, Markov decision processes, and multivariate analysis Ability to communicate complex quantitative analysis in a clear, precise, and actionable manner with both technical and non-technical customers Demonstrated analytical thinking & strategic problem-solving capabilities
