Your Day-to-Day:
This position is responsible for leading a category team to identify and implement opportunities to improve cost, quality, delivery, and reliability to reach organizational goals. The role will be required to lead and grow a category management team in Raw Material and Fabrication category. The individual will take direction from GSCS Director - Global Category Management - Direct. Strong relationship skills are required to manage organizational needs, project timelines, and resource management to provide timely and innovative solutions to meet business objectives.
Responsible for directing the segmentation of assign spend into category and subcategory groupings to create levers to achieve operational excellence. Maintains an overall category strategy to meet organizational goals by improving Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) while securing supply continuity through identifying and mitigating current and potential risks and opportunities in the category playbook. Ensures the execution category strategy through preferred supplier list (PSL), “right-sizing” non-preferred suppliers, and rewarding preferred partners with business awards tied to Long Term Agreements (LTA) with year over year improvements in cost, delivery, quality, service, and profitability. Leads key business reviews (SRM) with strategic suppliers to drive category strategy and attainment of category goals. Reviews presentations for supplier relationship management meetings, category playbooks, risk mitigation proposals, 4-Blockers, and supplier/category gap analysis. Responsible for creating and executing a plan to deliver annual business results against metrics of payment terms, on-time delivery, productivity, inflation, and other metrics as determined by Leadership. Maintains extensive category knowledge by researching and tracking industry trends, best practices, applicable indices, and competitive offerings to identify opportunities for innovation, competitive advantage, and increased overall productivity. Develop a productive working relationship with cross functional groups: Engineering, Operations, Quality, and Procurement
Who You Are:
As a successful candidate, you will bring the following to the team:
BA/BS degree required (Preferably MBA or MS in any field of engineering) Minimum 8 years of procurement experience (preferably within industries with large, complex engineering, procurement, and construction projects, with a focus on procurement) Experience in negotiations including RFI, RFP, RFQ and contract development required. Supervisor experience in procurement (Preferably 3 years of category management supervision) preferred. Strong Negotiating, Benchmarking, Market Analysis, Competitive Intelligence, and Procurement Projects Management skills Experience with vendor management including purchase order issuance, execution, and administration. Demonstrated ability to gather, analyze and draw conclusions from quantitative data. Strong interpersonal skills: ability to communicate and engage at all organizational levels, ability to cultivate highly effective teams to drive operational excellence. Ability to push for daily continuous improvement in standard work, talent development, and risk mitigation to meet or exceed organizational goals. Must be creative and have strong problem-solving skills along with time-management, prioritizing, planning and self-direction skills. Ability to maintain long term productive relationship with suppliers (SRM) Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Project ERP system or similar system experience in a global environment is beneficial (SAP & Ariba)
