Fulfills deliveries of all medical supplies and other HNL items as needed. Communicates regularly with management to convey concerns and suggestions to make the operation as successful and efficient as possible. Drives responsibly and manages deliveries per department protocols. Maintains reports and logs as required by the position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned. (these duties are the core tasks and responsibilities of the position)
Ensures the punctual delivery of medical (and other) supplies and understands instructions as to the transport requirements of each individual item. (Temperature, fragility, etc.) Transports items accordingly. Confirms proper documentation on manifest for boxes containing multiple different items including the contents and accurate number of items. Gets approval to transport biohazard materials or dry ice from Safety and Logistics Management.
Checks specific departments for any special deliveries.
Ensures that the items are packed into the vehicle carefully and securely. Verifies all orders include all requested items for the order. Missing items are communicated to Management prior to departing on the route.
Parks in the designated drop off location and should never block patient or staff access. Ensures that the items are unloaded from the transport vehicle carefully and then securely placed onto a hand truck for walking transport to the facility/office. Secures a verification of delivery (i.e., Initials, signature) from the proper staff member as required by the supply delivery protocol. Logs information related to each specific delivery as required by the Logistics Department. Accurately counts and takes inventory of items that are delivered.
Documents a pre-trip and post trip inspection of the vehicle as well as start and end mileage of the shift. Reports any vehicle concerns immediately to either the Logistics Coordinator or Management. Maintains the cleanliness of the vehicle, inside and out.
Communicates any concerns to the dispatcher or logistics management related to any delivery issue, client issue, transport delay, weather issue, etc. Handles all delicate situations with professionalism and contacts Logistics Management to intervene in the appropriate circumstances.
Drives courteously, safely, lawfully, and appropriately as dictated by the standards of HNL Fleet Management and Safety Protocols and the driving laws of the State. Strictly utilizes the vehicle for work related purposes only. Wears a seatbelt while driving. Follows the “What to do in an Accident Protocol” in the event of a vehicular incident.
Makes certain only authorized HNL employees utilize the vehicle or are passengers as dictated by the needs of the operation. Handles all HNL equipment in an appropriate manner per the HNL Equipment Use Policy.
Understands Operational needs around holidays and weather events may require that a missed weekday shift may need to be made up on a weekend.
Follows the pre-determined route to each destination, considering traffic, work areas and detours. Makes sound judgements when a route adjustment may be needed and communicates this to dispatch.
Assists the Logistics/Material Management departments as needed during any downtimes.
Dresses appropriately per the HNL Dress Code and Uniform Policies and always wears the HNL ID badge during working hours.
Performs all duties within HIPAA regulations. Stays up to date with all HNL PolicyStat, Samba Safety and HNL University policies and protocols.
QUALIFICATIONS:

A. Education/Experience:
High school graduate or equivalent required. Minimum 2 years’ experience in courier/logistical support operations.
B. Language Ability:
Must demonstrate the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Must demonstrate the ability to manage others in a stressful, changing environment. Must possess and demonstrate excellent customer service skills and constant focus and attention to providing quality service. Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as strong interpersonal skills.
C. Math Ability:
Must possess and show excellent math skills.
D. Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to read and comprehend road maps.
E. Computer Skills:
Ability to use Microsoft Office products and various other computer software products.
F. Certificates and Licenses:
A valid driver’s license from the state that the employee resides.
