Position Summary:
The Supply Delivery Technician is key member of the Campus Dining Team within the Division of Administration at Vanderbilt University. The Supply Delivery Technician is responsible for supporting the university operations team in a variety of functions including loading, transporting, and delivering items from production locations to customers on campus in a safe and timely manner and reviewing orders before and after delivery to ensure that orders are complete, and the customer is satisfied. The Supply Delivery Technician also supports unit operations by assisting with inventory, receiving, stocking, cleaning, and other duties as assigned.

Vanderbilt Campus Dining takes pride in the culinary creations served from our kitchens. Our Dining program is highly decorated, the winner of many prestigious awards in the food service industry, including Best On-Site Food Service Operation in the Nation, Best Food Service Operator, the prestigious Ivy Award, and many more. We have main dining centers, restaurants and cafes, convenience stores, and we employ over 300 employees.
Key Functions and Expected Performance:
Load, transport, and deliver items from a production locations to customers on campus in a safe and timely manner while using a University vehicle
Review orders before and after delivery to ensure that orders are complete, and the customer is satisfied
Evaluates food quality and preparedness by using proper quality control measures
Cover, date and correctly store all food items as per safe food-handling procedures
Complete production sheets, which includes logs for waste, temperature and actual prepared product
Ensure food is stored at the correct temperature for the prescribed length of time while following all food safety standards and complete daily temperature logs
Report all accidents to the Vanderbilt University Police Department and your department manager
Assist with inventory, receiving and stocking of merchandise
Understands Vanderbilt Campus Dining Meal Plans and has the ability to explain the guidelines of the plan to customers
Maintains clean and orderly work area and complete other general cleaning duties
Reports to management any safety hazards and equipment in need of repair
Provide on-the-job training to new hires
Perform all other duties as assigned and/or when needed
Supervisory Relationships:
This position does not have direct reports. This position reports administratively and functionally to the unit’s management team and chef.
Qualifications:
High School Education or equivalent preferred
Must be Serve Safe Certified within 30 days of hire
More than 2 years’ experience in delivery driving is preferred
1 year experience in delivery driving is necessary
Great interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work in a team environment and demonstrate excellent customers service
Possess knowledge and skill to safely operate various kitchen/cleaning equipment
Must be able to understand and follow directions
Ability to read documents
Knowledge of food product, identification, and acceptable level of food quality
Previous delivery/driving experience
Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and a satisfactory driving record. Vanderbilt University engages a third party to provide continuous up-to-date notifications regarding negative changes to motor vehicle records.
Stocking and ordering experience preferred
Must be able to safely operate various kitchen/cleaning equipment
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and frequently lift, push, pull, or carry up to 30 lbs.
Ability to walk or stand for extended time periods, up to 6 hours
Involves repetitive motion
Requires frequent lifting/transporting hot food items
