Position Summary:

This position is responsible managing two planners across two facilities. Core responsibilities will include developing the one to twelve month production and purchasing plan for Maryville & Mexicali molding departments and external molding purchasing, while maintaining the company’s desired customer service, inventory, space utilization and sourcing goals. This position will also supervise the scheduling department responsible for developing the production schedule for the forward 1-2 weeks in Maryville and Mexicali molding departments.

 

In addition to planning and purchasing, the position will interface daily with vendors, engineering, quality, supply chain leadership, sourcing and all levels of the organization.  A “can-do” attitude along with a strong work ethic and attention to detail is essential for success in this position. This position must be comfortable managing remote personnel in different time zones and ensuring career development plans are supported for their team.

 

This person will be the focal point of information exchange between Supply Chain, Operations and the Supply Base.  This position requires managing dynamic circumstances, and having the ability to make sound independent decisions based on multiple considerations.  Must interface effectively with wide range of personnel under all situations and be both directive and responsive.  It is essential to manage our systems through organized record keeping and documentation.  Communication skills, interpersonal skills, planning skills, personal organization skills and ability to make rational decisions based on the data are important.  Has the ability to work extended hours when necessary, minimum of quarterly travel required.

 

Job Responsibilities:

Supervise the Maryville & Mexicali Molding planning team in the development and execution of the master production schedule. Lead the RCCP process for Maryville & Mexicali molding in conjunction with the operations team. Drive customer service through schedule attainment and weekly coordination with the operations team. Report out on schedule attainment results and trends. Collaborate with the Maryville & Mexicali operations and planning leadership teams on the molding absorption plan for the next one to twelve months as well as the departmental ramp up/ramp down based on seasonal demand. Support and drive the development of tools that support tooling and press capacity planning, schedule attainment, vendor performance, shipment prioritization, etc. Establish quarterly review process with team regarding planning parameters within the team’s scope of responsibility to drive economical production plans that balance operational efficiency, inventory, and service. Collaborate with the innovation team to execute new product launches. Responsible to manage sourced molding suppliers – customer relationship by communicating long term facility production plan, identify engineering changes well in advance to avoid supplier E&O. Set and maintain inventory levels within specific targets to support customer service and inventory goals. Monitor team’s above operating inventory and excess & obsolete inventory levels and support the team in identifying root causes, reduction opportunities, and process disposition requests. Support sourcing efforts in supplier consolidation, material changes and lead time reductions. Attend and actively participate in daily expedite and production meetings.  Responsible to support/develop the daily activities required to maximize customer service, inventory and absorption targets. Assist in creating and supporting career development plans for team members Exemplify and drive Newel’s culture within operations.

Minumum Qualifications: 

MS Software – Proficient in Access, Excel, PowerPoint. Well organized with ability to manage through exception and data tracking. Excellent communication skills.  Has the ability to clearly communicate ideas at all levels of operations – from the floor to upper management. Willingness to travel to Mexico on a quarterly basis.                                                                                     Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or related Analytical Discipline preferred 5-7 years of supply chain planning experience and process implementation

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

Operation site experience preferred Injection molding planning experience strongly preferred
