Summary About the Position: The incumbent serves as a Supply Technician within the Joint Pathology Center (JPC) located at the Forest Glen Campus in Silver Spring, MD. Work is in an office setting utilizing cubicles as workspaces, work schedule will be 0700-1630. The incumbent can expect to contribute to the clinical care of patients by assisting with a wide variety of logistics. Responsibilities Utilize knowledge of medical/pharmaceutical terminology and numbering systems sufficient to identify products used regularly in a laboratory environment. Search catalogs, records, and other automated data sources to obtain or correct manufacture part number or to find authorized substitutes for the required materiel request. Manage ordering and receipt process. Use a variety of electronic data processing systems, acquisition systems, financial systems, and personnel verification systems to perform daily supply operations. Conduct physical inventories and adjust or maintain inventory, stock, or property records. Maintain accounting and reporting systems for non-expendable property and perform standardized property management control processes. Utilize knowledge of DMLSS and ECAT systems as purchasing vehicles for small purchasing matters. Contact customers, supply organizations, transportation units, and others to obtain material status information. Follow up on urgent requirements and serve as expediter for delivery of material to the customer. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes coordinating purchase requests with customers in a healthcare related environment; tracking medical supply materials using automated purchase requisition systems; conducting physical inventory of accountable property; assisting Property Book Officer/hand receipt holder in maintaining property account records documentation. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-6). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Customer Service (Clerical/Technical) Manages Resources Technical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-6). Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct Deposit of Pay is required.
