SUPPLY TECHNICIAN
Summary Who may apply: Current or Former Permanent Federal Employees, 30% or More Disabled Veterans, Veterans Recruitment Appointment, Schedule A, Peace Corps and Vista applicants, Eligible Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan applicants and other Special Appointment Authorities applicants in the local commuting area with the exception of Veterans Employment Opportunities Act, Eligible Military Spouse Preference (MSP) applicants, and eligible PPP applicants. Responsibilities Accurately maintains the accounting and reporting system for non-expendable property and/or consumable supplies. Conducts physical inventories of limited consumables as required by regulations and maintains all inventory records. Monitors stock levels of consumable supplies, including forms, to ensure on hand supply is sufficient to meet Center need. Prepares requisitions/orders for limited on hand consumable supplies using various acquisition methods. Determines the appropriate source for these bulk items, resolving problems with delivery and lead times in order to meet customers' needs. Ensures clerical correctness and conformance to regulations in the preparation of all supply and/or property source documents, invoices, and supporting papers. Provides customer service for unique requests and other items requiring special handling Codes and classifies requisitions, shipping orders, and other documents, and follows up on requests after purchase order has gone to contracting. This position may be required to lift up to 40 lbs. when handling supplies; crawl under desks for extended periods (up to 1 hour) while conducting accountable property inventory of computers. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-04) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. Specialized Experience is defined as: performing a range of clerical assignments and resolving associated problems; investigating and reconciling routine and recurring discrepancies relating to actions such as receipt control and inventory adjustments; applying requisitioning and stock control procedures and regulations to check appropriate computer listings, item histories, procurement documents, shipment invoices, or other available records or files and filling out, posting, filing, or coding supply documents using frequently used terminology, forms, or codes. Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement. Applicant must have served 52 weeks as a GS-04 or higher grade in Federal Service. You may qualify for consideration if meeting time-in grade, specialized experience, education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement. Education Substitution of Education for Experience: Four years of successfully completed education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation, or the equivalent, is a prerequisite may be substituted to meet the specialized experience required. Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements. Additional Information Moving expenses will not be paid.
