The Amazon Worldwide Operations Security (WWOS) Global Physical Security (GPS) team is looking for an independent, highly talented, fast-paced and motivated Physical Security Automation Engineer. This position will join a team of experienced and skilled program managers and security engineers in managing security technologies globally.
GPS is responsible for creating, implementing, and overseeing Amazon operations security infrastructure and technical solutions. We are seeking an experienced Support Engineer to join our Global Physical Security team and drive our task automation initiatives. As a support engineer, you will lead the design, development, and implementation of robust automation solutions that streamline physical security operations across our global footprint. This position requires a deep customer focus, self-motivation, technical expertise, and strategic mindset to create and support the security systems and processes.
Key job responsibilities
- Analyze existing physical security workflows and identify opportunities for automation.
- Implement and integrate solutions with existing physical security systems and platforms
- Develop custom automation scripts, tools, and applications using a variety of languages and frameworks
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., Physical Security, OTS, Loss Prevention) to align automation initiatives with global organizational goals
- Mentor and train junior team members on engineering best practices and technologies
- Continuously monitor and optimize automated solutions to ensure reliability, scalability, and compliance.
- Provide ongoing support and timely resolution of critical issues related to managed solutions.
- Create and maintain documentation for automation processes, procedures, and solutions for knowledge sharing and sustainability
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and security regulations in the physical security domain

Basic Qualifications
- 4+ years of software development, or 4+ years of technical support experience
- Experience scripting in modern program languages
- Experience driving collaborative projects from conception to delivery
- Experience with software development lifecycle
- Experience troubleshooting and documenting findings
- Experience with data infrastructures: relational analytic DBMS, Elastic-Search, and Big Data EMR/EC2/Glue/Lambda
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of distributed applications/enterprise applications
- Experience analyzing and troubleshooting RESTful web API calls
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, or similar
- Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CISSP, PMP, AWS)
- Experience with task automation using Robotic Process Automation (RPA) platforms such as UiPath
- Experience working in global, enterprise-level environment
