Supported Employment Lead

The Supported Employment Lead oversees the comprehensive supported employment initiative and effort by the DS Division by providing leadership to Job Developers, management and other employment personnel within the division. Collaborate with support staff and service team to ensure integration of employment goals into Individual Services Plan (ISP). Act as primary administrative liaison to DOS / Senior Program Directors and other employment related personnel within the DS Division. Develops and contributes divisional strategic plans to ensure that employment opportunities are maximized and leverage employment resources from external sources, including MRC, One Stop Career Centers, benefits counseling, Community Colleges, Vocational schools, and workforce development providers to provide effective linkages. Develop training and mentoring programs for staff and persons served that promote enhanced competency in employment efforts.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

The essential job duties/responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to the information listed below:

Hires, trains, and evaluates employment personnel and collaboration with operational personnel. Conducts employment supervision and supports programs in their efforts to promote employment initiatives. Participates in vocational cluster meetings to explore job leads, discuss individual clients, and celebrate successes. Provides field mentoring for employment and other staff around job development; job placement; meeting with individual to help staff develop interviewing/assessment skills. Provides individual supervision and training to employment personnel and ensures field mentoring for problem solving and employer relations are being addressed successfully. Conducts Employment Practice meetings monthly for employment staff. Provides employment personnel with necessary resources to achieve successful job development, coaching, and mentoring initiatives. Monitors the employment goals for the Division. Works with the local Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission (MRC) offices and DDS funded Community Based Day Support, DDS Funded Employment other vocational and educational entities/providers to coordinate issues and services. Provide outreach to MRC and CBDS/Employment services to offer weekly contact to integrate services. Acts as liaison to Directors of Service, clinicians and others, communicating regularly to ensure that services are integrated. Supports senior management to problem-solve programmatic issues and to serve as a champion for employment first initiative. Collaborates with Management teams to ensure accurate and up-to-date information is available to employment support staff about entitlements (e.g., SSI, SSDI, Health Insurance, etc.) and how they will be affected by employment so that PS can make financially informed decisions about employment opportunities. Works with the local Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission (MRC) office to coordinate programming issues and client services. Provides outreach to MRC to offer integrated services (i.e., meetings to discuss client status, coordinates shared office space, etc.). Participate in management meetings monthly with DOS, Seniors et al to promote Employment Services for continuous professional role development, mentoring and learning. Meets with MRC and other funders as needed to discuss employment initiatives and share client outcomes. Helps Senior Program Directors coordinate regular in-service training to all staff about principles and practices of evidence-based supported employment. Develops tracking system for employment analytics for the DSD/MRC as required, to include, job dates, hours worked, wages earned, and quality of job match. Reviews outcomes with DSD managers to adjust strategies and performance targets. Supports training and tracking systems efforts to ensure accurate and up-to-date information is available to both staff and clients related to their benefits (e.g., SSI, Medicaid, etc.) and how they will be affected by employment so that clients make financially informed decisions about employment opportunities. Participates in development of supported employment steering committee that meets regularly to oversee the implementation of IPS supported employment. Arranges for supported employment fidelity reviews to ensure agency is implementing the critical components of evidence-based supported employment. Assists with the development of the supported employment fidelity action plan, based on recommendations from the supported employment fidelity review report. Works closely with PDs and Seniors to reduce barriers to supported employment program. Provides on-going training and guidance to other team members on supported employment using a wide range of resources, as needed. Provides leadership by developing competency enhancement training for all staff in relation to supported employment. Performs other duties as assigned.
