Prepares, plans, and executes an excellent preventative maintenance program covering all equipment and operations of the feed mill. Performs all phases of mechanical maintenance and repair on all feed mill equipment. Supervises maintenance employees and reviews daily assignments while controlling labor costs. Ensures maintenance employees perform duties as assigned. Coordinates with outside contractors and supervises all maintenance, repair, and installation work performed. Promotes an effective teamwork environment. Promotes Animal Food Safety and Personal Hygiene. Promotes the Quality Assurance Mission Statement. III. Major Responsibilities: Supervises all feed mill maintenance activities. Maintains inventories of parts, equipment, and other items associated with feed mill maintenance. Assist in staffing and training maintenance personnel. D. Provides accurate inventories of parts. Briefs Feed Mill Manager or Superintendent on all maintenance, repair, or parts needs. Directs and applies an effective safety program and adheres to the Feed Mill Safety Manual policies and procedures. Ensures all forms and/or documents are completed as required by Standard Operating Procedures. Collects and provides maintenance reports, analysis, and other documents as directed. Provides these documents to the Feed Mill Manager for review. Keeps accurate records on preventative and predictive mill maintenance. Reviews these records on a continual basis. Date Approved: August 5, 2019, Maintains compliance with all federal, state, and or local regulatory agencies. Maintains required records in accordance with federal, state, local, and company regulations, as directed by the Feed Mill Manager. Maintains compliance with all Current Good Manufacturing Practices, Standard Operating Procedures, Quality Assurance Manual, Food Safety Plan and others as required. Supports the Feed Mill Manager with implementation and oversight of Quality and Food Safety. Able to work in a fast-paced environment. Capable of performing any position or job function associated within the feed mill environment. Notifies the Feed Mill Manager when a suspected Quality or Food Safety even has occurred. Promotes and upholds the Quality Assurance Mission Statement. Performs other duties as assigned. IV. Key Working Relationships: Works closely and is accountable to the Feed Mill Superintendent or Feed Mill Manager. Works closely with the Corporate Feed Mill Quality Control Manager regarding training, understanding, and implementation of federal, state, and local regulatory feed requirements and feed mill efficiencies. Coordinates the flow of information to the Feed Mill Manager. Works closely with vendors. V. Position Requirements: B.S Degree in engineering or 5 years in related experience in feed mill maintenance. Three to five years’ experience in supervising maintenance personnel. Demonstrates proficiency in all phases of mechanical maintenance and repairs. Proficiency and in-depth knowledge of boiler operations. Understands and proficient in electrical work, hydraulics, pneumatics, welding and cutting, oxy-acetylene welding and cutting, liquid applications, and other areas related to feed mill processes. Must be able and willing to lift heavy objects. Must be able and willing to work in dusty, hot, and humid areas. Must be able and willing to climb a 125-foot ladder and work at heights of at least 40 feet above a structure. Must have an excellent knowledge of OSHA safety protocols in the feed mill environment. Must communicate daily with shift employees to ensure that all preventative maintenance schedules are met. Identifies with and upholds the values, philosophy, and mission of Sanderson Farms, Inc. Must be able and willing to make effective decisions, which enhance the overall efficiency of feed mill operations and maintenance. Ensure the company’s assets and inventory are protected. Adheres to all safety protocols and advocate a safe working environment. Responsible for mill cleanliness, appearance, and ground maintenance. Understands all automation and mechanical equipment and manufacturing processes. Monitors and implements all guidelines, forms, and other documentation regarding federal, state, and local regulations. Prepares and submits reports, as required. Records the most accurate data for spare parts inventory. Schedule employees and provides employ time-off requests to Feed Mill Manager or Superintendent. Uses teamwork to promote excellence and best practices. Understands and deciphers mechanical and structural blueprints. Good to excellent computer skills
