JOB SUMMARY
The Renewable Projects Supervisor leads a team that is responsible for managing Behind the Meter (BTM) renewable programs engagement and implementation for Georgia Power, including providing initial customer and stakeholder support; performing solar savings analyses; facilitation of contracting and interconnection of residential customer generation projects; ensuring proper billing set-up; and, providing continued support for thousands of BTM customer generators. The role is responsible for direct customer and solar stakeholder interaction, commercial, industrial, and residential customer education and economic analysis, leadership and support of BTM governance (interconnection agreements, tariffs, internal policies), and the development and maintenance of processes and tools to support effective program management. The Supervisor will also coordinate closely with Distributed Generation partners to ensure consistency and continuity in BTM program implementation and processes across all customer classes. This position is expected to maintain high customer and stakeholder satisfaction and build internal and external relationships through effective communication and demonstrating expert knowledge of BTM solar program options and processes. This position will also be expected to maintain an active knowledge of industry trends and serve as an advocate for the Company’s position on BTM issues to influential audiences, industry groups, regulators, internal partners, and other stakeholder groups. The Renewable Projects Supervisor will be responsible for meeting all regulatory requirements and program filing timelines. Additionally, this role will serve in an advisory capacity to program development peers, ensuring that customer interests and needs are reflected in program designs as well as identifying barriers and/or opportunities related to implementation feasibility.
MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Effectively lead and coach a team; provide timely and meaningful performance-enhancing feedback to all employees. Create meaningful individual development and performance plans for direct reports. Ensure the effective management and leadership of all residential BTM installations from application through contracting, interconnection, and testing; provide feasibility and technical support where necessary. Facilitate and/or support Distributed Generation team’s management of C&I BTM installations, including development of solar savings analysis for potential and existing on-site renewable projects, including leading the consultative discussion as needed. Lead the strategy, development, and implementation of the team’s processes for tracking and reporting on all customer engagements, including economic analyses and BTM program participation. Support the continued development and maintenance of tools/platforms for managing BTM projects; coordinate with partner organizations, including Renewable Reporting, Distributed Generation, Pricing & Planning, Regulatory Affairs, and Marketing and Strategic Support, to ensure accurate reporting and record keeping of all BTM projects and programs. Ensure proper communication to customers regarding the impact of BTM solar projects through channels including Corporate Communication, Customer Care Center, Solution Sales, Managed Accounts, and Region External Affairs. Serve as the liaison and promote positive engagement with partner organizations, including Pricing and Rates, Power Delivery, Metering, Regulatory Affairs, Marketing & Strategic Support, the Customer Care Center, and others. Provide ongoing feedback and guidance to development and implementation partners (Regulated Program Development, Load Flexibility, Distributed Generation, Procurement etc. Pricing and Rates, etc.) to ensure healthy BTM programs evolution through IRP and Rate Case. Effectively and accurately communicate to Company Senior Executives, Regulatory, and Legislative stakeholders.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree required, additional consideration for master’s degree and industry certifications. Previous supervisory and performance management experience is a plus. Experience in managing broad and diverse work teams both internally and externally. Demonstrated experience working across multiple organizations to achieve effective outcomes. Strong knowledge in the areas of: Renewable energy Distributed generation technologies and economics Customer program and tariff development Power Delivery practices and policies related to interconnection and metering Utility rates and pricing and Georgia Power’s marginal/avoided cost Economic and financial analysis Customer service/billing Applicable state policies, statutes, and governance (PURPA, GA Co-Gen Act, GA Territorial Act, Net Metering, SEPAs etc.) Experience interacting with the Georgia PSC and development of regulatory documents such as IRP, Rate Case, certification filings, compliance filings, and official data requests with the PSC. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work directly with all customer types through a variety of channels. Adaptability to work in a dynamic environment as programs, processes and teams evolve. Highly proactive and timely in responding to team, business, and external needs, with limited direction.
