Summary About the Position: Serve as Chief, Casualty Support Section and advisor to the Chief, Casualty and Mortuary Affairs Branch (CMAB) and Director, Casualty and Mortuary Affairs Operations Center. Responsibilities Coordinates a wide variety of projects and requests for information relating to benefits and entitlements under the Army Casualty, Mortuary Affairs and the Army Line of Duty Programs. Coordinates actions and develops consolidated reports and responses for review by the Deputy and release by the Director. Coordinates and monitors a wide variety of initiatives involving casualty, mortuary affairs benefits and entitlements for the Active and Reserve Component around the world. Provides fact sheets, briefing slides, executive summaries, and other information in support of the Army Casualty Program requirements. Demonstrates leadership and provides guidance to resolve problems, answer questions, correct deficiencies quickly, evaluate casualty support to management. Develops plans and objectives for assigned projects. Conducts broad and complex studies and analyses across organizational and functional lines on a variety of projects, issues and problem cases. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes managing the Casualty Assistance Program for the Commander, evaluates the overall effectiveness of the program through detailed studies/analyses. Recommends policy updates, prepares briefings, and writes detailed reports. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Leadership Problem Solving Technical Competence Written Communication Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12). Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees. This is a(n) #50 Military Human Resources Career Field position. Salary includes applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement. Position may be filled as a temporary promotion or temporary reassignment not to exceed 1 year by a current permanent Army employee. Temporary promotions or reassignments may be extended up to a maximum of five years and may be made permanent without further competition.
