We are looking for a Surface Mining Landman to join our team in Calgary. We require an experienced mining landman that will be responsible for supporting Suncor’s various teams with respect to operational and growth work. We are looking for an individual who collaborates well with internal and external stakeholders to ensure Suncor is well positioned for all contractual and regulatory obligations and opportunities.Minimum Requirements:
12+ years of relevant industry experience with post-secondary education in Land Management or a related fieldValid Alberta Land Agent licenseIn Situ or Oilsands experience considered an assetExpert in OneStop/Electronic Disposition System applicationsStrong skills and technical knowledge related to internal and external stakeholder relationsEfficient computer skills using land, mapping and GIS related programsHighly motivated capable of interacting collaboratively with multiple internal groupsExpert knowledge of all acquisition, maintenance and termination functions of surface rightsStrong interpersonal and communication skillsKey Accountabilities:
Maintains existing surface rights and provides support to othersProvides surface land advice and leadership to achieve business objectivesReviews, interprets and applies complex land regulations and policies related to assigned projectsParticipates in new development and commercial opportunitiesManages Crown applications for specific project areas including OneStop/ Electronic Disposition System applications, disposition renewals and site entriesIdentify and review all third parties and other requirements including releasing packages for construction and licensing. Participates in setting strategy and procedures regarding acquisition and administration activities as well as drafting of agreements and cost estimates.Provides mentorship, guidance and leadership which may include training and supervision of land services personnel on Crown applications and overall project management to drive consistency across the enterprise.Ability to influence the thinking and actions of others without exercising direct authorityStay informed on industry best practices, policy changes, and regulatory updates relatedto land management
