SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC INSPECTOR (TITLE 32)
Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a WG-5801-11 SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC INSPECTOR (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D1285000 and is part of the MO Field Maintenance Shop 4. APPOINTMENT FACTORS: This position is a Temporary vacancy NTE one year in the Excepted Service. This is a bargaining position. SEE NOTES UNDER CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT BELOW. Responsibilities Inspects a large variety of heavy-duty mobile equipment (i.e., combat, tactical, etc.) and automotive vehicles. Inspect heavy artillery, small arms, powered support and other equipment or components of equal or lesser complexity. Inspects complex, interrelated mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic and electrical systems, equipment and their components while in operation or in a standby condition. Inspects and performs tests to braking, steering, and differential systems. Uses specially designed testing methods and test equipment. Inspects equipment to determine needed repairs. Utilizes stablished Maintenance Expenditure Limits (MEL) to evaluate economic feasibility of repair(s). Prepares lists of needed repairs, parts, and man-hours authorized. Performs in-process inspections to assure that equipment is being repaired in accordance with pertinent requirements. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Since the position is temporary in nature, the compatibility requirements will be waived for a period of time not to exceed one year. Selecting official must verify that selected individual is currently assigned to a military unit in the Missouri National Guard and that the selection does not create grade inversion. Minimum Military Grade - SPC (E-4) Title 32 National Guard employees will not be militarily senior to their full-time supervisor or wage leader (grade inversion). GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must possess experience, education or training which demonstrates knowledge of equipment to be able to do routine jobs, simple preventative maintenance tasks, and able to use common tools and equipment in the line of work. WG-11 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must possess 18 months of specialized experience in applying a wide variety of complex inspection techniques to examine a variety of heavy-duty mobile equipment and automotive vehicles (i.e., combat, tactical, etc.) and automotive vehicles (i.e., attack tanks, large cranes, tank retrievers, fire trucks, bridge transporters, armored vehicle launched bridges, bulldozers, road graders, crawler tractors, power shovels, self-propelled earth compacting equipment, self-propelled artillery, etc.). Experience inspecting complex, interrelated mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic and electrical systems, equipment and their components while in operation or in a standby condition. Experience operating a large variety of test equipment, some of which is specially designed to test complex interrelated mechanical/electrical/hydraulic/pneumatic systems. Experience using specially designed testing methods and test equipment such as computerized test sets, precision gauges, electronic sensors, injector test stands, engine scopes, etc. to assure that tolerance and safety factors have been met. Education This job does not have a qualification requirement that allows substitution of education for specialized experience.
