SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC SUPERVISOR
Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC SUPERVISOR, Position Description Number D1294000 and is part of the CO MATES 64, National Guard. The purpose of this position is to serve as a Full Assistant to a supervisor who has responsibility for overall direction and coordination of subordinate work activities and functions. Responsibilities Planning: Plans on a quarterly or longer basis, the overall use of subordinate personnel and resources under their control. Determines resource requirements, materials, the number of subordinates and the types of skill necessary to accomplish long-range work schedules. Work Direction: Assigns and explains work requirements and operating instructions to subordinate supervisors, sets deadlines, and establishes the sequence of work operations to be followed. Maintains balanced workloads by shifting assignments, workers, and other resources to achieve the most effective work operations. Administrative: Assures that subordinate supervisors effectively carry out policies to achieve management objectives. Develops, publishes, and ensures employee compliance with standing operating procedures for the activity supervised. Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and command support exercises. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Military Grades: E-6 thru W-5 1. Specialized experience will be used to determine qualifications for the announced position. 2. It must be documented with "from (mm/yy)" and "to (mm/yy)" dates and description of the specialized experience. You will be immediately disqualified if you fail to include specialized experience in your resume. Must have at least 36 months of Specialized Experience in each of the following: 1. Experience leading to an extensive knowledge of the mechanical makeup, operation, and working relationships of complex interconnecting systems, assemblies, and parts for a variety of combat, tactical, commercial, special purpose vehicles, and equipment. 2. Experience diagnosing, repairing, overhauling, and modifying interconnected complex systems on a variety of combat, tactical, commercial, special purpose vehicles, and equipment. 3. Experience leading to an extensive knowledge of state of the art electrical, electronic, complex hydraulic, pneumatic, and other major non-mechanical systems that have a functional relationship and effect on the operation of major mechanical systems. 4. Experienced working with hydraulic lifting, loading, turning, and positioning systems and their mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and electronic controls. 5. Experience developing or improvising methods, alter parts, and make repairs in the absence of technical guidelines (such as modifying parts to fit and mesh into systems for which the parts were not designed); improvise modifications to equipment to correct recurring malfunctions; and design modifications to meet special test requirements or other special needs. 6. Experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments for lower grade personnel. 7. Experience which required the review of work requirements and establish priorities to meet deadlines. 8. Experience that provided knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function. 9. Experience which demonstrates the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes. 10. Experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations. Education Education cannot be substituted for Specialized Experience for this position. Per ARNG-HRH Policy Memorandum #10-39, mandatory Full Time Staff (FTS) training is required within a year of hire as a condition of employment in vacancy announcements for both Technician and Active Guard Reserve positions. Failure of new FTS personnel to complete NGB prescribed courses at PEC within the first year of employment may be cause for reassignment to other full time positions or termination of their employment. 7.
