Reporting to the General Superintendent, the Surface Operations Superintendent is responsible for all Open Pit mining activities and other surface heavy equipment works including construction earthworks, taillings movement, Taillings transportation and placement and other work. He shall collaborate with all other departments to ensure goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.
The roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to\:
Plan, direct and coordinate the activities of open pit mine operations & all surface earthwoks operations, employees and contractors in a safe, environmentally sound and in an efficient manner, either personally or through subordinate leaders; Lead by example and manage the performance and development of direct reports. Ensure compliance with the Agnico Eagle Policies and establish production and quality standards using knowledge of mining technology; Collaborate with internal departments such as Engineering, Geology,E&I and Construction and address any issues that arise in terms of mining operations; Study and review data, charts, reports and records, to prioritize activities that have an impact on department productivity; Perform budget and routinely review expenditures to prevent excess costs or inaccurate charges.
