*POSITION SUMMARY* To provide uncompromised Safety, Quality, Customer Experiences, and Stewardship by assisting the endoscopy staff and physicians. Work related responsibilities will be directed by an RN, who will contribute to optimal patient outcomes by providing delegated patient care activities, care and cleaning of endoscopy equipment and supplies. Technical activities include performing the GI technician role within the Endoscopy Department. *PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITES* 1. Follows infection control policy, utilizes personal protection devices as indicated in the universal precautions policy. Cleans scopes / equipment following appropriate infection control procedures. 2. Provide and maintain a safe environment for all patients, including but not limited to, right patient, right date of birth, right procedure. 3. Demonstrates knowledge of and follows current policies and procedures and SGNA standards. 4. Accurately handles and identifies specimens properly; demonstrates care of specimen as required. 5. Properly handles and cares for all instruments and equipment checks for proper function and completeness. Reports faulty equipment per policy. 6. Anticipates needs of physician and assists in the procedure room, passing instruments/scopes, and supplies as needed. 7. Checks GI suite to ensure a clean environment. Assists with cleaning during room turnover and terminal cleaning as necessary. Cleans and restocks GI rooms daily. 8. Participates in a performance improvement activity to improve department, patient or physician satisfaction. 9. Uses computer system effectively as needed for daily activities, such as documentation of endoscopy schedule. 10. Attend in-services, inventory and mandatory meetings. *MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS* * Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. * Work Experience: None * Licensure: None * Certification: American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS) Healthcare Provider Completion Card within 90 days of start date and maintained. * Skills/Knowledge/Abilities: None *PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS* * Work Experience: One (1) years’ experience as a surgical technologist or GI technician. *PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS* * Physically agile; may require walking, standing, running, bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing, or crouching frequently. * May occasionally include lifting or moving objects up to 50 pounds, with or without assistance. * May require moving in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces, including reaching out and above shoulders, or overhead. * May lift, turn, pull, push, or ambulate people and/or equipment with or without assistance up to 90% of the assigned shift. * May be exposed to inside and outside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting, and/or low to loud noise. * May require working with biohazards such as blood/body fluids and airborne particles following OSHA and CDC guidelines. * Communicating with others to exchange information. * Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks. * Workspace may vary from open to confined, onsite or remote. * May require travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter; may require use of personal vehicle. *ABOUT HEALTH FIRST* At Health First, diversity and inclusion are essential for our continued growth and evolution.
