*POSITION SUMMARY* To be fully engaged in providing Quality/No Harm, Customer Experience, and Stewardship by performing a variety of technical activities related to patient care, as well as support activities in the pre-operative setting. *PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITES* 1. Assess patients’ post-operative condition. 2. Monitor vital signs and other measurements of progress, meeting discharge criteria. 3. Log all findings in patient files. 4. Answer patient questions and ensure patient comfort. 5. Monitor patients for condition changes, reporting any changes to physician. 6. Attends in-services and mandatory meetings. 7. Cooperates with the surgical team in the individualized plan of care for each patient. 8. Demonstrates an ability to perform all duties required of a Surgical RN in accordance with established procedures and completion of skills check list. 9. Exhibits flexibility and adaptability to changes in room or duty assignments. 10. Compliance with the Nursing Process as evidenced by document of process and discharge planning. Documenting competency in identifying and interpreting physiological reaction of the patient and can adapt to age related nursing interventions. 11. Specialized knowledge, skill and abilities in empirical & practical perioperative nursing. *MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS* * Education: Associate Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma from an accredited professional nursing program. * License: Current State of Florida RN licensure or endorsement. * Certification: Must hold current American Heart Association Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider Completion Card prior to start date and maintain. o Must hold current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) Healthcare Provider Completion Card prior to start date and maintain. o Must hold current PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) Healthcare Provider Completion Card prior to start date and maintain. * Work Experience: One year of nursing experience. Must meet unit specific care requirements. * Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: o Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English. o Ability to perform basic math. o Ability to be flexible and adaptable with daily schedule and assigned tasks. o Ability to respond appropriately to stressful or life-threatening situations. o Detail-oriented with ability for continuous concentration on an activity. o Excellent customer service skills with ability to interact effectively with medical staff and patient care teams. o Motivated to complete milestones and competencies with ability to receive constructive criticism and apply to future performance. o Ability to work autonomously, while consulting chain of command as appropriate. *PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS* * Work Experience: Previous ambulatory surgery experience and/or advanced knowledge in critical care practice of nursing. *PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Medium* * Physically agile; may require walking, standing running, bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing or crouching frequently. * Medium work that may include lifting or moving objects up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, with or without assistance. * May require moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces, including reaching out and above shoulders or over head. * May lift, turn, pull, push, or ambulate people and/or equipment with or without assistance up to 90% of the assigned shift. * May be exposed to inside and outside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting and/or low to loud noise. * May require working with biohazards such as blood/body fluids and airborne particles following OSHA and CDC Guidelines. * Communicating with others to exchange information. * Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks. * Workspace may vary from open to confined; on site or remote. **Job:** **Ambulatory Surgery* **Organization:** **Melbourne G.I.
