Job Description

PRINCIPLE DUTIES:

Clinical Surgical CoordinationAssists with coordinating multidisciplinary care for surgical patients. Models high level of competency related to the surgical coordination of robotics proceduresServes as a resource to the department staff for management of patient care problems and planning care for patients within specialty services. Makes decisions reflecting knowledge of facts and good judgment within the Surgical Coordinator’s scope of practiceIdentifies needs for and implements systems and processes to facilitate care and improve outcomes.Collaborates with the multidisciplinary team and manages care of surgical patients. Triages all outpatient phone calls, guiding patient care through coordination of multidisciplinary efforts.Models relationship skills with robotic team and staff to prevent poor outcomes and promote patient satisfaction.Models effective documentation practices. Develops strategies to ensure complete documentation as it relates to excellent patient care, and also regulatory requirements.Identifies impact of new technology on patient care outcomes and on workflow processes.Coordinates preparation and outpatient follow-up for surgical procedures as directed by the physician. Completes activities to support the timely, efficient and cost-effective provision of equipment/instrumentation, materials, supplies and equipment for a department providing advanced/specialty care.Communicates with Director and Nursing leadership on a regular basis regarding inventory par levels and potential growth.Functions with an awareness of safety and infection control policies and procedures, regularly assessing the physical environment, eliminating unsafe conditions and maintaining a clean and safe environment.Coordinates with other departments to prepare and maintain a safe and therapeutic environment in patient care areas. Monitors safety practices, ensuring environmental and equipment safety and adherence to infection control standards.Coordinates data collection and performance improvement needsDevelops and maintains communication and record keeping systems to facilitate patient referral, acceptance, and perioperative management.Obtains and organizes patient information in database.Assists in the management of the unit level quality/performance improvement system. Establishes standards of care with quality indicators for evaluations of care rendered.Establishes quality assessment/improvement activities with ensure continuous implementation of safe, efficient, effective patient care and which identifies problems and progress toward resolution and improvements. Ensures the investigation, corrective action and documentation of patient care.Provides appropriate nursing units with robotics educational materials and continual updates as needed or required to include teaching and directing members of the robotic team and coaching and mentoring for staff development.Participates in patient-related consultations with physician staff as requested, including attendance at Team meetings.Discusses surgical candidacy with Team members/Physician Establishes and maintains frequent contact with referring physicians and institutions to ensure the timely transmission of pertinent medical records, pathology slides, and diagnostic test results. Communicates same to medical staff.Communicates with referring physicians concerning patient eligibility, protocols, surgical candidacy and related issues.Encourages frequent communication with referring physician immediately post-surgery.Manages inventory of specialty patient care equipment/instruments and supplies, including assuring safe use, monitoring staff competency and handling problems or malfunctions.Procures and maintains adequate levels of supplies for the department.Maintains specialty equipment and records indicating all available equipment, condition, preventative maintenance schedules, and manufacturer’s guidelines for use.In conjunction with clinical engineering, ensures specialty equipment is maintained through a preventive maintenance program and participates in equipment trouble shooting.Establishes, implements, and maintains an inventory control system for specialty supplies. Monitors specialty supply utilization and makes recommendations on desirable levelsAssists in product evaluation and arranges for evaluation of new products.Ensures the operational readiness of all equipment and supplies.Company Description
