Job Overview:

Responsible for verifying insurance and eligibility to obtain prior authorization for inpatient/outpatient medical procedures and diagnostic testing.

Qualifications:

Required:

High School Diploma or GED required Relevant experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience Six (6) months to one (1) year of relevant experience and/or training

Preferred:

Previous Surgical Coordinator experienceBilingual a plus

Scheduling Requirements:

Working Shift: Monday-Friday, 8:30AM-4:30PMDay ShiftFull-Time, 35 Hours Per Week

Essential Functions:

Ensures that patient demographic, insurance information, verification and eligibility have been established and documentedObtain necessary documentation from patients medical team to assist in obtaining approval in timely fashionVerifies patient insurance eligibility and obtains necessary pre-authorization numbers, if required, prior to date of serviceDocument and communicate with clinical staff, physicians, administrators, and patients regarding insurance problems/discrepancies; contact patients to receive updated insurance information or correct issuesCommunicate with servicing facilities and co-surgeons to make sure authorizations were receivedFile documentation of approval letters to be scanned into the EMR system, as necessary
