Surgical Services Clinical Auditor
Position Summary:
The clinical auditor is responsible for reviewing perioperative documentation and patient charging records for Surgery, Specialty Procedures, and PACU. Responsibilities include auditing and reviewing nursing documentation for completeness and accuracy, auditing and verifying patient charges and assigned OR levels.
Responsibilities:
Reviews the perioperative record for completeness and accuracy of information for charging purposes Coordinates daily activity and workflow needed to complete daily auditing assignments Maintains, builds, and updates surgeon preference cards by working with clinical coordinators, nurse manager, staff and physicians Performs patient charging and documentation practices; accurately reports statistics, patient charges, and documentation Attends surgery department meetings, staff meetings and other ad hoc meetings related to surgical services Prepares statistical data for nurse manager and/or director as scheduled and/or requested Responsible for maintaining ongoing education and knowledge of the EMR and its functionality Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function Performs other related duties as assigned Competent to meet age-specific needs of the unit assigned
Requirements and Minimum Qualifications:
Associate degree required Surgical Technician Certification (CST) required General knowledge of patient care processes in surgical environment and understanding of a variety of surgical procedures and supplies 5 years’ surgical tech experience in an operating room environment required; experience in a hospital setting preferred Familiarity with EMRs and other computer software systems Maintains proficient knowledge of OR procedures, types, and charging
